Hi @Hils I am using the cold cap at the moment - yes it is a bit cold to start with but only for a short time (maybe 10 mins) - you then get used to it - a bit like a dull headache and you get to be wrapped in a nice warm blanket and given meds to relax you during the process - so not too torturous.
I did find that I have still have had some hair loss - but was warned that it doesn't guarantee no hair loss. It was around 2-3 weeks in from my first session - had what felt like lots of hair come out - but was a bit of thinning really - still distressed me.. Haven't had too much loss since then so seems to be doing the trick - My hair is really short and thin anyway however I have still have worn scarves/headwear mainly as the colour loss stands out more now it is that bit thinner and I have half purple half grey hair at the moment (not a good look) - but all round I would recommend it - at my last session the lovely nurse applying the conditioner showed me there was no hairs coming out at all so thats a big positive.
Give it a go, if you find it too much you can always say you don't want to continue with it if you find it too uncomfortable.
Best of luck with your chemo next month. x
