Sorbolene controversy

I've triggered some questions about Sorbolene!! But I need to know what the best alternative is. Some of the suggestions have been Essential Pure Vit E, Sudocreme and Calendula. Can anyone verify a good alternative? I was lead to believe Sorbolene was fine so I need to have 'evidence' that an alternative is 'better'.... There are so many options and choices with everything we do. Constantly being told by one source or another that something is NOT GOOD FOR US is a bit wearing after awhile and one remains confused! It's not easy to find a balance between questioning/research and taking some suggestions we feel comfortable with, moving on and not letting worry and anxiety of the unknown rule our lives. Getting cancer was hard enough! Asking oneself what did I eat, do, use, feel, think that was not good for me and cancer was the result! What should I do now to help prevent it returning?? In the end we go with what our specialists tell us and I, for one, do not beat myself up thinking that I could have made better choices. But I would like to hear any suggestions based on research for an alternative to Sorbolene! Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I was advised by the hospital to use Sorbelene.(they even give it to you)  It did not do any thing for me and did use MOO GOO also, but it was probably too late.  Now in my case I think that being very fairskined did not help.  After the 25 treatments,  by chest area, was red, bloody,  very broken skin, and it was painful,  and to a degree this went around under my arm.   When I went back a  week after treatment had finished, they said " oh, you need burn treatment".  They gave me "Gel o Net.  Its a open weave gauze soaked in Parrafin (yes can you believe Parrafin).  I had to change the dressing twice a day.  It  is given to burn patients, apart from radiation burns.  My burns were classed as 2nd degree. It gave me instant relief, eased the itch and the burns started to heal very quickly.

I used sorbolene that was given to me by the hospital and then when my skin broke I used Solugel I think it was called and had to dress the area twice a day.

To be honest it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated and my skin healed very quickly, I was very diligent though in my cream usage.

    cheers

I googled it, they have a website and you can order online. My rads was in 2009. Used skin basics sorbolene as was told by hospital. I am very fair and only had slight reddening of the skin. I still use sorbolene daily for my lymphedema arm and as a general all over moisturizer. Am going to look into this moo goo stuff as it sounds really good.

    Hi,

I have just placed an order for Moogoo online :) I also bought the cream for kids to supply to my nieces.. They were VERY quick to respond and send through updates on my order.. I will probably have a try of a few of their other products as well.

About 20 years ago a friend had really bad eczema and I had read somewhere that there was a cream you could get from farm produce stores called "Deri Sal" It was used on cows with mastitis.. I put my friend onto it and her lifelong eczema cleared up!! I believe Moogoo is based on this cream.. I am going to be using this cream throughout my radiation starting on the 3rd of Dec. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

    Thank you, ladies.

I went to National Pharmacies on the way to Radiotherapy today. They had a range of MooGoo products. So then I'm trying to work out which one to get. Chose the Full Cream moisturiser. Love the packaging! In cartons that look like milk cartons. Spoke to the nurse at the centre about choices. She said their first recommendation now is CALENDULA but they don't have issues with Sorbolene. Depends on each individual. I have had very few problems with my skin so far using Sorbolene - into the last week. I am going to use the MooGoo Full Cream now though and see how it goes.

At my weekly appointment with the radiotherapist he gave me SOLUGEL wound care cream in case my skin starts to peel like sunburn sometime in the next 2 weeks.
