Hi everyone,  hope you have a wonderful weekend planned ~ who knows, it might even be a weekend for dangling in some yoga positions! :-)

For anyone who loves yoga or is interested in the practice - I thought you might like to have a look at this article that explores the benefits of yoga.

Some of the benefits mentioned in this article include:

  • Weight management
  • Building strength
  • Endurance and flexibility
  • Stress management.

Happy reading and have a wonderful weekend, oh wait! I mean, namaste :-) X Steph

I regularly go to a yoga class and have found it to be very helpful during this journey. At present I am only going once a week as I am on chemo and I get tired, but usually I go twice a week. It helps with all those aches and pains, and keeps me active and flexible. You can push yourself as hard or as little as you want to. Some positions I cannot do anymore but others I have improved in. A great form of exercise.

I had done yoga many years before but work and family got in the way and I stopped. After my diagnosis I read an article about the health benefits of yoga and cancer patients so decided to give it a try.  I was put onto a teacher and studio that was suitable for someone with breast cancer by the Anahata Healing group. It has been a great experience.

My beautiful daughter gave me a great voucher for a pamper day at a special Day Spa called Annasha Day Spa in Gooseberry Hill in Perth W.A.  It was the best gift she could have given.  I was chatting to the wonderful therapist, Jen giving me my treatment as you do and I said I wanted to get in to yoga and she said well it just happens I am starting yoga classes here.  I started the next week and I have been making my best effort to go every Friday night for near of 10 months now.  My girlfriend comes and has tea with me and we both go.  It is amazing and it has started me on a beautiful path.  I do yoga twice a week, once with Jen at Annasha and also with a wonderful lady in Bassendean who I met by doing a free 6 week course of yoga through Cancer Council (one of the many fantastic organisations).  I also did a 6 week meditation course recently through Cancer Council which was fantastic and I have a couple of incredible Reiki sessions as well.  Also I do a sound healing and meditation group at Annasha as well.

Thanks to my precious daughter who is like my guardian angel these days I have been led on a healing path which I luv and enjoy so much.

I find yoga is gentle or hard depending what you and your body can handle. It helps to loosen off those poor tights joints and muscles and when I leave my yoga classes I feel refreshed and renewed.

Cant speak highly enough of yoga.

Good luck to you all and give it a go.

    Luv always, Mich xoxoxoxo

So good to hear you god back in to yoga after some time off - it is amazing the number of women that swear by it as a good, grounding form of exercise. Focusing on your posture and breathing is a form of meditation also - so brilliant for the mind. Interesting what motivates us, I wonder how many others read the same article and started attending a regular yoga session. Knowledge is power hey! Have a wonderful day Lynnemh, and thanks for sharing X Steph.

So wonderful to hear about your yoga, health and wellbeing journey Mich. I am actually thinking of going along to my first sound healing and meditation group with a close girlfriend of mine tomorrow night. It is meant to be ground breaking, a real shake up for the soul. It sounds as though you have such great support from your daughter, and it is great to hear you have taken up opportunities through the Cancer Council. We definitely encourage women to get in touch with this incredible organisation for upcoming events and programs. For any women looking to start up yoga/any health initiatives, you can access the Cancer Council website here http://www.cancer.org.au/ or call the helpline with any questions 13 11 20.
