Hello again Nicole. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. If you have triple negative breast cancer, this means that you do not have any of the three types of receptors commonly found on breast cancer cells. The three receptors are: Oestrogen receptors (ER)Progesterone receptors (PR)Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2). This type of cancer responds well to chemo but is agressive. Only 15 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer are triple negative.

Hi Nicole - welcome to the group that no-one thought they would ever be in
It's perfectly normal to feel anxious, scared, angry - my story is I was 37 diagnosed June 2013, early breast cancer, lumpectomy, chemo, radiation, herceptin infusions for 12 months & now on tamoxifen for 5 years - it's one hell of a ride, if I can offer you some words that may surprise you now but you will reflect back & hopefully agree - "you've never been more loved than now" you will get through this & come out the other side - take one day at a time, deep slow breaths xxx0 -
Hi Nicole,
Sorry you had a need to find us! A big day today for you but hopefully it won't be as bad as you're predicting. I was 37 at diagnosis almost 3 years ago and frightened beyond words but it does get better. I've had a double mastectomy and recon also and am very happy with my results so hopefully you'll be too, not that it is the same as our originals. Just thought you may like to know there are a couple of Facebook groups setup in aust for young women with breast cancer. The two I know of are 'young women with breast cancer' and 'surrounded by pink sisters' . You may find them helpful. I found them and still do, easy to access and a wonderful support group. Quite a few people in both groups are from Melbourne.
Hope surgery goes well. Lots of hugs. Sam x0 -
Hi Nicole, Your profile pic is very familiar....FB maybe? I was diagnosed with early breast cancer on 19th Aug. I have opted for a bilateral mastectomy too., for my peace of mind more than anything else. I am not having the reconstruction yet and not sure if I will bother but I am 49. You, like me, will beat this and come out stronger and smiling. Try to embrace this as that is how you will win

Hi Nicole,
I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis and I'm sure you will get thru it.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago at the age of 34 & so far so good. You will find great support here and we will all do our best to help you thru this.
I had 18 weeks of chemo and I won't lie, it does knock you around quiet a bit. What drugs are you having? I had FEC & then Taxol.
I found that dry Jatz and lots of water & lemonade helped me get thru chemo & I also had a craving for Calippo Iceblocks. Go with your cravings and rest up as much as possible. Don't over do it
All the best with your sugery and keep us updated with how you are going

Hi Nicole,
Hopefully the surgery went well. I was diagnosed coming up 3 years ago. Went through 6 months chemo, 18 months herceptin, and radiotherapy. Had check ups since everything good. I was treated at Olivia's wellness centre and was one of the first to be treated there when they moved. What you are going through is one of most terrifying things you can experience but is does get better.
Good luck0 -

Thanks everyone for your wishes. It's the 2nd day after my surgery and I'm recovering well. It feels better the have the prick of a cancer out of my body. My specialist said my lympth node looked healthy, so fingers crossed it is. I should get my pathology results today. The nurses have been amazing also.
I'm surprisingly feeling motivated to beat this thing. It's so good to have a network of ppl the reach out to, so thanks.0 -
So good to hear from you. I have been checking to see when you would comment. Glad to hear you are doing well. I am busy organising my "Bye BYe Boobs" fun party which is the day before my surgery . Better to tackle this with a smile and a laugh, even if it is "bad taste" lol. Please stay in touch and let us all know how you are travelling xx
