Hi ladies... This may sound odd but I am thinking I would like to do a plaster cast of the girls before my mastectomy... It will be a good bonding thing to do on the weekend before surgery with my hubby.... Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a kit online that is easy to do at home?

I have also been inspired to do a photo journal of surgery to share as I know the ones I have seen have helped me enormously ...

Regards

Chris

There is a tag called making memories in the breast reconstruction page filter by tag list on the right hand side of the page. One of the blogs is called preparing to lose your breasts which has lots of discussion about plaster casting. I think it is a brilliant idea that I wish I had done.
    Good luck.

Hi Chris, I did exactly that, a plaster cast of my breasts, the day before the surgery. I am so happy i did it and the cast hangs in my bedroom. Not painted yet, but draped in a scarf. Its kinda nice, but also kinda sad sometimes. I am so happy I did it though because now I have this beautiful art to remember how I looked before.

I found it very cathartic too, my hubby got involved. I had it done by an artist, quite cheap but she also has kits and will help over the phone. This is my cast on the website.....

Hi Chris, I forgot to say...awesome that you have found the photo stories helpful and that you want to post yours to share and support others. Thats very generous, the more unique stories there are, the more we are all informed. Just be careful you post it in the private group, not the public network. When you are ready and if you need a hand, just shout XXXLouie

Louie, of course I had to have a sticky!! How lovely. So wish I had thought to do it. A lovely memory, if not a bit sad as well.
