2014 Field Of Women
To All The Lovely Pink Ladies
Well...I just got back from my magical experience in Melbourne!!! OMG!!! WOOHOO!!!
Last weekend my three kids and I went to the MCG for the '2014 Field Of Women.' OMG!!! It was truly a happy and wonderful event, and I was so glad I went all the way to Melbourne to be a part of it!!! I just can't express how memorable this night was for me and my three kids!!!
Melbourne turned on a wonderous night with clear skies and no rain, and the atmosphere from start to finish was so awesome and memorable. There were so many people there of all generations. Thousands of people everywhere!!! It was so amazing!!!
When we first arrived at the MCG the outside grounds were full of happy and excited ladies, gentlemen and children all dressed in their pink or blue ponchos. My son had a blue poncho and my daughters and I wore pink ones. As I put my pretty pink poncho on I felt absolutely wonderful and inspired! The moment was captured by everyone there with their smart phones taking snaps of each other eagerly. A massive blown up pink chair was used by everyone to sit in and take photos of each other. This was such a fun thing for the adventurous to try. I myself could not get near it as this was such a popular event within itself. You could hear the laughter and feel the fun because of it.There was also a large blown up pink lady like the one we were going to make inside with smaller cardboard ones pegged into the ground around it. My kids and I took many happy snaps at this display. My eldest daughter gave me a lovely souvenier of the night when she bought me a pink lady T Shirt. Now I can say 'Been There Done That, Got The T Shirt! LOL!!!
You could feel the electricity in the air when we all started to file in to the MCG. I was so excited by it all, especially when you could see all the pink ponchos lined up out on the field whilst walking down through the stands behind my three kids. We were all waiting eagerly for that moment of glory. It was a party atmosphere!
As I first walked onto the MCG ground It felt so amazing to be there. Looking around at the wonderful and spectacular MCG I felt very exciting and I knew this moment would live with me forever. My family and myself stood at the lower left hand side of the pink lady's skirt, with such an amount of pride for not only myself, but everyone there! As I held up the sign my kids helped me make which read, 'Thanks For Making Me A Fighter,' I could not help but feel so emotional with tears welling in my eyes with pride. My heart was racing so fast with all the excitement of the moment!!!. So many people held up signs too with numerous generations of their families being remembered with love. When they turned the lights out and we turned on our pink torches, you could see the marvelous sight of the massive pink lady we had all made together on the large screens that were in the stands of the MCG.My son's blue poncho made it easy to find us on the official photos that were taken on the night. LOL! Especially as it was just such a spectacular sight to witness a sea of pink everywhere. When it was all over the kids and I stayed on for most of the footy game. This was also a great event to witness and be a part of. The footy players had on pink in their shirts to show support for the breast cancer cause. This was so awesome! The match was so close and riveting and it had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation and excitement! OMG WOW!!!
I just can't thank the BCNA and the MCG enough for putting on such a monumental night and a life changing event that the 'Field Of Women' is. Seeing the amount of people there, and knowing it represented how many men and women will get diagnosed with breast cancer this year, is very emotional for me. The amount of volunteers was very inspirational and the logistics on the night was such a monumental task to witness. It was so sensational to be there! To be recognised in this way for going through such a harrowing event in my life made me feel so special and enlightened by it all. Strength comes from supporting those in need and I thank the BCNA for supporting me through my cancer journey and beyond.
Well done everyone concerned and thank you so much for the 'Field Of Women.' I look forward to next year's event in 2015 with anticipation!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I know where you are coming from hun!!!
Cancer is a horrendous thing within itself but it does make you feel like you can do anything, which is why I bought my business. i was still going through radiotherapy when I and my husband bought a busy 7 day a week newsagency. I thought to myself "I can do this, I know I can, if I can beat cancer...?" It was on my bucket list, and although I have since sold after owning it for nearly two years, I felt a strength come from doing it!!! It took a lot of courage I think to go out and live my dream no matter how hard it was to achieve. But I did it and now I know that bucket list is getting smaller in what I have yet to do. Paris is right up there, and hopefully some day I will get there too!!! LOL!!!
YES! Go to melbourne and visit your rellies. Everybody needs to feel support and to support their loved ones and friends. And next time they have the 'FOW' be a part of the 'Pink Lady Army' and find the strength that is within all of us huny. We breast cancer people are a strong bunch Christine no matter what life throws at us right???
Take care and good luck with your cancer journey hunyXXXMiaXXX:):):)
