Income Protection Insurance Claim.
As my new top level Chemobrain challenge, I am trying to work out how to lodge my Income Protection Insurance claim as a self-employed person. My GP and surgeon and oncologist filled in the relevant form a couple of months ago. But in addition, I have to prove my business income and expenditure for the exact year from diagnosis/finishing work back 365 days. So I had to do my long overdue BAS return for the last quarter of last year, and correct some errors, and get copies of paperwork from the ATO. Managed to get that done, and am preparing to photocopy a year's BAS statements, plus record of earnings and costs for the first week of January each week. But I have no faith they will pay me anything, and suspect that anything they do pay will be eaten up in tax anyway. Talk about a defeatist attitude eh! :-)

I think they deliberately make it hard so people give up and they save money:-)
Don't give up - better they pay up !! Besides if it gets chewed up in tax you will have to claim net medical expenses... Nearly EOFY !!!!
Do you get charged gst on medical bills? Can you add that to your bas?
Keep your chin up

I have income protection with my superannuation fund & your right they just don't want to pay, I have sent all the paper work they asked for & filled in all the forms & they keep sending more & the other day they sent all these forms for us to fill in that we already filled in.... So now my hubby is going to ring them, I told him to just forget it, but he is determined & he is not going to give up....So good luck & don't give up:) take care...Christine:) xox

I had this via my superannution and yes there is a huge amount of form filling to start with and every two months I have more forms to prove I am not better........but so far each month I am paid my "benifit" as they call it . It should be back paid from the last day of your waiting period so keep at it. Good Luck everyone who is filling out the forms!
