Moving forward
Today I went to lunch with my husband, our youngest daughter and two of our many grandbabies.
While there, I met up with a girl I hadn't seen for a couple of years and she was very interested in hearing that I was doing well and was getting better as she had heard that I wasn't and wouldn't........
But I also caught up with a friend who had left town a year or so ago and I hadn't seen since before I got diagnosed. We had chatted many times, but we had not seen each other.
The best part of catching up with her was that she had about 50,000 words to say and I listened......there was NO talk of my cancer whatsoever.......
Life was normal for a couple of hours.......

Well done. It is funny how everyone reacts differently to our situations. Some people want to give support but have no idea how standing there looking sad has the opposite effect! So glad you could just chat to someone without a bit of pity creeping in. I find being honest with people works well. Yes, I am struggling a bit but it is great to be just me sometimes not me + cancer.
Keep up the positive work. Happy New Year.

You are so right, most of my conversations lately have been about cancer. I guess it's inevitable, but it would be nice to chat about something else. Best wishes for the new year, take care,
Hazel xx
