i have been wondering this past few days how others manage financially through teatment - unfortnately for me i have been unemployed for over 2 years - had a bit of temp work but that's about it.  I am now totally freaked out about how we are going to manage. I am a single parent and newstart just doesn't cut it in terms of keeping us. is there anyone out there in the same boat who can give me a few tips? thanks

Hi, through the cancer council we are able to speak to a financial advisor I believe. I also have the number of a place that I got through the hospital. I know exactly how you're feeling. This is my second diagnosis in 2 years, so I am really struggling emotionally at the moment. I am trying to teach my husband everything and we are trying to sort out or finances. I don't know that anyone copes well financially unless you are a gazillionaire! Lol. Check with centrelink, you may be entitled to a different payment because of the circumstances. Good luck, Deb xx

    Hi Ranveig,

You might find some tips in the Financial and Practical Assistance fact sheet - It outlines a range of benefits, subsidies and services that may be available for you and your family to help reduce the financial impact of breast cancer.

Good luck and I hope you get some support for you and your family.
