5 years
Today it is 5 years since my diagnosis of breast cancer. I would rather have missed that experience, but I'm pleased to say I have managed to get through it all.
I am divorced, at self-supporting which meant that I just had to keep working throughout my treatment, as much as possible, in order to keep my home.
I am now taking Aromasin, and trying to exercise to overcome the side effects.
And yes, I'm still working 5 days/week.....

Congratulations. That magical 5 years is a real milestone. In my mind I also hope for that achievement. I am nearly at 3 years, so more than halfway there. Is your Doctor keeping you on Aromison for 5 years or 10? Good luck. Love Chris xx0

What a wonderfully positive post! You have every right to be proud of yourself! I am coming up to my first anniversary so starting to feel a bit anxious about the relevant tests but you just have to get on with it, don't you?!
I wholeheartedly agree with annie58, go out and reward yourself. You certainly deserve it!

Thanks for the good wishes. I am back on Aromasin, and I seem to be more able to manage the side effects. Yes Chris, the recommendation is now to take it for 10 years.

I stopped the Aromasin. I remember when i was going through radiotherapy, some women told me they had stopped the medication and I was horrified. Now i understand.I dont want to discourage anyone from taking the drug, but I just wish it could be adjusted to suit an individual, it was way to strong for me. Now I walk to the bus, eat well, a bit of everything, no fads, but lots of veges, no sugar.
Eat well and keep moving- thats my maintenance program.
My darling daughter took me on a whirlwind 21/2 week trip to London, Lille, Paris, Bacelona , Florence and Rome. I'm still working 5 days a week to pay it off, but I can highly recommend travel, even if it is just a weekend away; to sooth your soul and put things in perspective.
Best wisheds to everyone dealing with this pesky nusiance- it turns your life upside down, but sometimes you find a better life there.
