My soft cuddly toy left to me by my daughter who works as a wildlife ranger in South Africa! Pity I can't fit her in my handbag to go to chemo.... (my daughter or the hippo!!) Love her to bits!

Wish I could forward this post to my son inlaw who is from south africa and my precious daugher. They have just given us the most precious gift of a most beautiful baby girl but I know they recieved so many gifts as well wishes from Sourth Africa. A lot of my son inlaws family are still in Sourth Africa but he also has a lot of special family out her and living in Perth WA. I have always found South African people to be beautiful people who love and live life to the fullest.

U know I already wish you and your loved ones nothing but the best.

    Mich xoxo

Congratulations, Mich. Is this your first grandchild? My daughter has a South African boyfriend but I very much hope any babies she has are born here!!! Is your daughter in the same city/town as you?

    Hey Erica

No unforunately my daughter lives in Perth and I live 400klms away. If I had have known how much your daughter having a child pulls at your heart strings there is no way I would have moved away from her for the sea change lifestyle.

All I want these days is to be close to her and her beautiful baby girl oh and her hubby as well lol.

I am heading back down to Perth next week so will get to spend time with them which will be wonderful.

I do have another grandaughter who is very precious to us as well. She is two years old and I can count on one hand how many times I have been able to get to see her. She is my sons lil girl and they are always too busy for us to visit them etc. which just breaks my heart. My daughter inlaw has a family who are close by and so her mum does all the babysitting. It is sad in that our sons child/children are missing out on spending quality time with this granma and grandad but it is their choice and I try and try but can't win with that one. They are due to have another lil one in a few weeks so hopefully we will be more welcome then but we will have to wait and see. We have lived away for 4 years and they have never come to visit us once unfortunately. It is all a bit sad but then I am so blessed to have such a very special daughter and her precious bubby to keep me happy.

Life has so many twists and turns, up and downs and is constantly testing us all the time so we just have to keep finding the positives and run with them I say.

Lots of love, hope you are doing okay.

    Mich xoxo

Can totally identify with your sentiments! Go with the positives and enjoy your daughter's little bubba! I am truly blessed to have THREE daughters all of whom I am close to.

    Hi Erica,

I think you need to get a bigger bag so you can at least take Hippo to chemo! Your daughter can be there in your heart. But hippo needs to be there to cuddle!

No matter where I am I always feel better with something in my arms. On the couch I cuddle a cushion in bed I cuddle a pillow when I need strength at work I go and find the office teddy ;-)

I found a picture of the office teddy! :-)

We use him when we are having a tough day. He lives on Di's desk but if one of us in the office are feeling down and need a friend then we can borrow -- 'T' Ted and he can sit by us :-)

We're always kids at heart! Something soft to cuddle always feels good.
