Hormone blockers

I have just completed radiotherapy and will start Letrozole in a few weeks. I am petrified having read the side effects experienced.
I am in menopause and wonder if the impact will be less or if there are many who don’t have any side effects?
Anyone with positive stories about Letrozole?

    Welcome @Ifonly24.  The site is quiet this weekend but someone will pop on and answer your query.
    In the meantime do put 'Letrozole' in the search function (in the blue bar at the top of the screen you will see it) but make sure you select 'newest' in the drop down box.  Hope that makes sense. A few discussions there.

    Not everyone suffers side effects.  Some suffer and some nothing at all.
    Please don’t let the fear of the unknown cloud your judgement.   You never know you could be one with no side effects or very minimal.
    The link below will hopefully give you confidence
    @Afraser has spoken of her experience on here

    @Ifonly24

    I did 10 years of letrozole - yes I did have some side effects but I had no joint pain, or similar. Just like reactions to chemo, reactions to letrozole can vary widely. My side effects were also aggravated by being considerably older than you, but could be treated. Remember you can always stop if the side effects are too severe for you. Give it a fair shot, keep your oncologist informed and see how you go. Best wishes.

    I've been on Letrozole since mid 2017...so 7 years now. I have other medical conditions Autoimmune), which include systemic scleroderma, dermatomyositis, Sjogrens syndrome as well as antiphospholipid antigen syndrome. All are mixed connective conditions which affect the collagen in my body and it affects my kidneys, lungs, heart, skin, joints, tendons, muscles, ligaments and blood vessels. As a result, current issues in these areas of my body are hard to tell which is from what. My rheumatologist has told me that my problems are well in line of what he would expect with these conditions after seven years and that they would exist, letrozole or not. Aside from that, the only symptoms I can attribute to the letrozole is some hair thinning and some vaginal dryness...both of which are acceptable if it continues to keep the Cancer Clowns away.

    I have been on letrozole for 6 weeks and no side effects so far. I suppose, they might come later.

    As the others have said, @Ifonly24 - many on Letrozole don't get side effects, so definitely give them a go & see if you are one of the lucky ones ;)

    Staying active & continuing to do things you love doing .... will help you in your everyday life ...

    Take care & all the best

    Hi @Ifonly24, I also started letrozole about 6 weeks ago, and no noticeable side effects so far.
