- TasiaMemberI found that the steroids kept me awake all night after my treatment. So i didn't fight it I watched TV, stuff that I had recorded. Then during the day if I felt like a nap I had one, most times I stayed awake until the next night where I crashed LOL The side effects were noting like AC. You will be ok, sending hugs x

Hi @ChezaH - completed week 4 and yes, I agree nothing like the AC experience. This week a few side effects have thrown me around - a racing heart, a rash breakout...Taxol may be a tyrant of its own kind. Thank you for your positivity, hugs back to you xx - LocksleyMemberHi @lovemelrose
How are you travelling?
Been thinking of you. Sending hugs xxx - noosa_blue150MemberI’m about to I have dose 10 of weekly palcitaxel - ( and herceptin) I found it a much easier regime than the AC chemo BUT it had effects on me .
# Now take gastro stop day after ( found I had diarrhoea day 1after each weekly dose , luckily never has nausea )
# Gastric effects seem minimal but I’ve continued on with the daily reflux meds given to me by oncology team, just in case
# no where near as tired as when in AC chemo , altho by week 9 nana naps often a good idea
# I did get some peripheral neuropathy but oncology team dropped dosage to 75% and we hope to get 12 weeks in. PN side effects do not affect everyone so don’t worry unnecessarily - just be aware and report anything you notice to,your oncology team
# do get aching legs and arms but it’s not super painful so I just get on with things
hopefully youll notice less side effects too . I felt like a zombie at times on AC - learnt to lay low and rest on the “down “ periods. Luckily I live on my own therefore didnt have a family / kids to organise and major house keeping issues which helped me cope . Under taxcel/ herceptin I’ve felt better and am back to doing most activities for self . Hope you find that too - ChezaHMemberTasia said:I agree with everyoneʻs comments AC is a rough brutal experience. I had my 4th cycle delayed; mine was because my PORT area was infected (and continues to be), at that time presented with a fever and severe blood clots. I finished AC mid October 2020 and it gave me a beating. The onc delayed Taxol and I enjoyed 3.5 weeks of being chemo free while battling the other challenges. I embraced those weeks to refuel.
I started Taxol week 1 yesterday - with steroids beginning Monday and again yesterday as a precaution to reaction (that is because I am prone to them). I have no idea how my body will react to Taxol or what side effects will surface.
Like you, I will draw on the advice, support and experience of all the lovely people on this site and feel someoneʻs hand in mine, encouraging me along. I extend my hand to you - we will be ok, you will be ok xx

Taxol is very different I did have side effects but nothing like AC. Hang in there sending hugs Cheryl x
- MazbethMemberHang in there @lovemelrose AC can be pretty brutal - but you have now done them. Another step forward! By number 4 I was knocked around because it is building up each time. 12 x taxol was completely different for me, much better but a different set of SE. I experienced reflux which I have never had before, but a tablet a day sorted it out. Just make sure you let your doctor know if you experience numb fingers or toes. My doctor gave me great advice and he said to not panic if I didn’t finish all 12, that 9 would be effective too. He told me that to make sure I spoke up if I was getting too much numbness. I am sending you lots of good wishes. M X
- primekMemberCertainly the nausea ended for me. I had terrible constipation on AC. Taxol is different and comes with a totally different lot of side effects but the tummy issues do improve. I did find I needed nexium twice a day on taxol though as I had reflux more on it.
I hope for you it will be considerably better and you will definitely have less need for hospital admissions. - LocksleyMemberSorry to hear you are back in hospital. Hang in there. I found taxol a little bit easier. I too have terrible trouble with diahorrea. The pain in my bottom is so sore at times. Sending you hugs xxx
- Cath62MemberSo sorry you are experiencing this. I hope it all improves quickly. Best wished
