i developed oral Lichen Planus (LP) shortly after finishing chemo and radio. It flares from time to time, and can be very painful. Fortunately I have a specialist dentist and treatment which helps. But I now have got fingernail LP, which is horrible. It is like chemo fingernails. They split, flake and recede. My dermatologist said to paint them to protect them a bit. I also have lymphoedema and all the side effects of Tamoxifen. Ah, the joys of breast cancer.

Sorry to hear that Pammie. It sounds dreadful! My fingernails are still revolting as they slowly recover from chemo. Does Lichen Planus go away? K xox

My dentist specialist said oral LP goes away after maybe10 years, and my dermatologist said treatment of fingernail LP takes a long time. I didn’t ask how long she meant. I thought it doesn’t really matter. It would just be nice to know one other person with the same problem. But I suppose both disorders are too rare.

Just as a side note, I was telling my husband just last night about you and your wonderful husband.

And yes, there is solace in company when facing adversity. It's why we're all here on this forum eh?!

Ah! That's very kind of you to say. And yes, my husband is an absolute saint! It's not been easy for him the last few years. Taking on two very challenging kids that aren't your own, in your sixties, while holding down a full time job of considerable responsibility is amazing. And then I go and get breast cancer... I am in awe of him! He often jokes that I can leave him if I want but that he'd come with me (boom boom). However I would never! I totally adore him. K xox

(You have to use the @ in front of my name for me to see you're talking to me, unless it's in a discussion I've started. Tricky little detail that took me a while to get!)

Hi there @pammiesyd. That sounds so painful I’m so sorry you have to go through that. I don’t have the same condition as you but had issues with all of my nails during chemo and just two now. I still see my nail lady fortnightly for gel polish to be applied although the other nails have improved significantly they can still be brittle hence why I’ve kept up with the gel polish it’s been awesome to help keep them all protected. I have a lady who works from home do it so it’s so affordable thankfully. Big hug. Margie xx
