Fits of giggles
Hi Everyone,
I'm just back from my second radiation treatment and I was wondering if other people get the giggles during treatment? I know cancer is serious stuff, but for some reason with radiation I am finding the situation of lying there with my top half exposed while a group of people talk numbers and adjustments is really funny. I was cracking up the whole way through my radiation planning session.
I'm thinking of drawing a funny picture or maybe a tic tac toe grid on my belly so that while they have their marker pens out they can have a game. But that's just my warped sense of humour.
I hope your all doing okay.
cheers
Mira

Mira, I laughed about your comment above. I absolutely hated/dreaded radiotherapy and lay on the treatment bench clenching my jaw until after it was all over. Oh yes, I was more relaxed but every time that machine started all I wanted to do was to run - thus the clenching of my jaw to keep me in place.
I found it interesting how some nurses would mark me with small blue lines whilst others were far heavier with the marker pen which made the marks more difficult to remove.
I was highly tempted to mark myself up on my last session with a smiley face but behaved myself! I did do my happy dance when I jumped off the treatment table, much to the amusement of all.

I must be crazy, I am still giggling and going for session 19 out of 20 today. There's a bit of redness and it does hurt a bit sometimes (especially if I poke it) but thankfully I have had a fairly easy time of it. I just read your post and hopefully I wont get the same problems as you in the next few weeks!
I mentioned my evil plan of drawing on myself to my nurse and she loves the idea and is going to write on me so that its not all back to front. Currently the thinking is to write "Freshly baked" or "Zap me". Maybe I'll draw a flower for my last session. The technicians have all been really friendly and lovely, most of them will have a joke with me.
It honestly hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.
