New website and online network
Thank you to all the online network members who provided (and continue to provide) valuable feedback, either by email, over the phone or in person in one of our focus groups.
Now that the online network has a new look, you will notice some new features and maybe some old ones which are no longer there.
Once you have logged into the online network, have a close look at the main navigation bar (see image below). This bar has everything you need to get around the online network.
Finding your way around
To the left of the navigation bar you can select the:
- 'Posts’ link and see the latest online network blog posts
- 'Groups’ and ‘Members’ links to search for and connect with online groups and other online network members
To the right on the navigation bar you can select the:
- Big pink ‘Post’ button, which allows you to post in your own blog or if you are a member of other groups you can post directly into the groups blog.
- ‘My feed’ link this will show activity from others in your own personal networks
- ‘Messages’ link and you will be taken to your messages. You can read new private messages, respond and create new messages.
- ‘My profile’ link you can see your blog posts, the groups you have join and the members you are connected with. Don’t forget you can also update your Story, personal contact information and privacy settings.
New features
- Search: From the ‘Posts’ area of the site you can now search and display just online network member blog posts or you can display BCNA blog posts.
- Filter: You can filter the content using the drop down categories i.e. Chemotherapy, Breast reconstruction, side effects etc.
- Keywords: You can search the blog posts by keyword. This allows you to narrow down what you are looking for.
As with all new websites, there are always some little bugs so be assured we are working very hard with our website developers to get these fixed ASAP so you can all continue to enjoy the wonderful online network.
We will continue to provide updates, in the meantime if you have any trouble finding your way around, please send us an email bcnaonline@bcna.org.au or phone us on 1800 500 258.

Hi Robyn and Deanne
I can see and use that bar BUT of your cursor flips across the page it will disappear. Move your cursor and it comes back.
You are logged on as yourself when trying, aren't you ?

Yes. I have logged on time and time again but have never found this navigation bar. The only time I see the pink 'post' is when I open up a post and it is then up in the top right hand side above the post I have opened. I also do not have any new messages coming into my 'messages'. If I click on my profile photo (Which has a drop down box with lots of things like my profile and messages etc) then I get a bar saying 'posts' on the left and then the pink 'post' on the right. The pink 'post' has a drop down box which allows me to select my blog or a group to put my post.

Hi everyone! thank you for your msg :-) just wondering if you might be using an ipad or iphone? If you are, you will instead see your picture in a round circle with the arrow at the very top. Once you select it you should see a drop down menu that will help you navigate your way around. ~ Jess

Hi Jessica, thanks for this. It has helped greatly. I just have a query on the messages area. I'm using an iPad and I have tried to click on my messages to read subsequent comments but nothing happens. Can you please let me know if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks.

Hi, I am on PC not phone or iPad, and the nav bar scrolls down with the text, so you lose it, and it is only there occasionally because something covers it a lot of the time,, and it vanishes when you try to put your curser on it.
Also could you put back the system for messages that provides as list of message headers and you click one to get to a particular It is now just a stack of messages full text, which is very hard to manage or navigate around?
It is such a shame it had to change: it seems to have lost most of the good things that worked so seamlessly.
Could you tell us what are the pluses of the new site? (So far I am afraid I cannot see any for us on the online group, but maybe I am missing the obvious)0 -
Hi Jessica, part of the problem using a PC is that the dropdown items from the higher navigation bar, (which starts with "understanding breast cancer" ) drop down to cover the navigation bar in your picture. The two navigation bars are too close, so our one for feed, messages etc becomes virtually unusable.0
