Hi,

I was wondering where you got your hat from, I love it! and what did you do for masectomy bras. I'm finding that hard to not be able to find cute or sexy bras though I have come across one website that has cute stuff but I don't live in that area. This designers bras are fitted and modelled by someone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer. I have added the link below. Would be great to hear if you know of any places or ideas for cute bras and for hats. Thanks.

i found a site www.gotchacoveredhats.com.au who sell hats, scarfs, and hair rings, it is run by a lady who has been down the same road as us. glad to hear Em you are still busy making wedding arrangements, good on you. One suggestion though, looks like the shoes you are wearing in your profile photo (bridesmaid i presume, and beautiful) were killing you... so nice comfy shoes in order. hehe.   Also dont know about anyone else while talking about feet, but while i was going through chemo i could only wear smooth rubber thongs, my soles started to peel and blister if i wore anything else, amazing what you remember lol. Good luck with the rest of your treatment

    Hi Em

I found some great hats on www.headcovers.com they are based in the USA but have a huge range of hats of all sorts and colours. The postage is also ok. I got 4 hats from them and have worn them heaps, they are all 100% cotton which you need in the QLD summer. I got a lovely white one with a peak and it's my dog walking hat. The dog now knows when we are going he loves the hat more than me !!

Also I found a website in the UK - www.nicolajane.co.uk who specialise in bras and swimwear. I bought 2 lovely bras from them followed their measurement guide and they fit perfectly (36DD) the prices are a lot less than here and the postage six pounds 50 pence (About $10) was good. In the UK you don't pay tax on mastectomy bras which keeps the price down would be good if they could do that here! Also Marks and Spencer have an on-line shop and now ship to Australia they also have a range of  pretty bras with matching undies and lots of colour too. Again the prices are good and they also have reviews on the products from people who have bought them so gives you a good idea how others have got on. Not sure of the website address as I get a weekly email from the store but google Marks and Spencer and is sure to come up. Am waiting to finish my radiation before I order any more undies. Actually got a cheap comfortable mastectomy bra from Target last week and is great!!

Good luck and am sure you'll find something.

    Hi Em,

As Samantha, Moira1 and Sarah 51 have mentioned, there are some really good websites to purchase nice hats and bras, or at least find out about different styles on the market.

In my role at BCNA, I occasionally receive queries from women regarding post surgery bras, so I thought I'd pop in a few links for you (and others!) to check out.

Berlei not only generously provide BCNA with the bras for the My Care Kit, but they also have a nice post surgery range available for purchase.

Amoena and Anita Care are both good websites to have a look at different styles and search the location of stores.

Spirit of Life Boutique supplies a range of post surgery bras with an online store to place orders.

    I hope this is helpful.

Perhaps others viewing this post may have some suggestions for hats and bras?

    Katie

Thaks all for the shop and website suggestions. I am looking through some now and I like what I see. The Nicola Jane website is fantastic for bras, they have some really cute ones and the hat websites are fantastic! I think some online shopping is in order :)

    Hi Em

Just to let you know I bought the black and white bandeau bikini from Nicloa Jane last week it arrived today and is perfect. Can't believe it I don't have a great bikini body at the moment (chemo weight and am 51) but looks great and has lifted me no end. It was only 30 pounds so was a bit sceptical as had paid $120 for a swimsuit here ( which is also fab). If I feel brave enough will get my husband to take a photo of me and post it.  I am a water baby so need swimwear but didn't want to have my lack of right breast stopping me. Just wish they did it in other colours!! Also did you see the tops with built in bras they do too think that will be my next purchase.

    Good luck with the shopping!
