Periods returning after Tamoxifen
Hi lovely ladies, After 5 years of being on Tamoxifen I got the clearance to stop medication back in May19. I haven’t had a period for almost 3 years. Just recently I got my periods. Is this normal or should I see my GP/Oncologist? I didn’t have chemo only radiation after my lumpectomy back in May 2014.289Views0likes4CommentsRe: Breast Cancer has changed my fitness ideas to another level
Well done Karen, that is a great achievement. All throughout my journey the gym was my savior. I continued to exercise and still doing it now. I can say that I am so much stronger and fitter than ever before. No matter how weak or depressed you may feel, exercise always helps. There are days that I feel weak and think that I won't last the day but once I get to the gym and do a workout, it definitely improves my mood and end up having a much better day. I feel more depressed and weak when I don't go. Wishing you all the best. xxx14Views0likes0CommentsHair Care
Hi lovely ladies, Just wanted to ask if it is ok or if anyone has had keratin treatment done on their hair after chemo or radiation? I am interested in gettting this done to my hair as it has become extremely frizzy and hard to manage but wasn't too sure if it is harmful. It has been over 12 months since my radiation theraphy and I did not have any chemo. If any of you ladies can provide feedback/knowledge on this I would muchly appreciate it. Thanking you7Views0likes2CommentsRe: Wearing underwire or sports bras
Hi Geng & others Thank you so much for your responses. I still wear underwire bras during exercise due to support and to avoid bounce. They are comfortable however I find that it marks my cancer breast more than the other, probably due to scarring. But I get this when I wear normal bras anyway and with clothing especially when I sleep face down.28Views0likes0CommentsWearing underwire or sports bras
Hi everyone, It has been a long time since I have been online. The new website looks great and looking forward to navigating around it. It is going to be almost 12 months in August since I have had radiation treatment and being on tamoxifen. All is going good besides a few minor hiccups every now and then. I have been exercising and going to the gym all throughout my ordeal and it has been my greatest stimulus for recovery. I am so much stronger and fitter than ever before. There are days where I just don't have the energy and that's when I either take it easy by doing low impact exercise or just give myself a break from it totally. I wanted to ask about wearing an underwire bra, whether this is ok or should be avoided completely? I have large breasts and need support while exercising and hence wear underwire sports bra. However, some professors recommend not to wear them at all. Your comments and advise would be highly recommended.208Views0likes7CommentsRe: Skincare after radiaiton?
Thank you lovely ladies. I'll try some of the options and see which works the best. The skin has started has started to peel and very very red. My LAST radiation was today yayyyy!!! Thank god for that. You beautiful ladies have reassured me that it will get back to normal because, looking at it I was thinking how the hell is this going to heal when it is virtually like charcoal. I feel sooooo much better knowing this. Wishing you all the very best. Love xxxx8Views0likes0CommentsSkincare after radiaiton?
I have 2 more radation treatments to go and my skin is quite burnt and sore. I have blisters under the fold of my breast and underarm. The nurses are taking care of it after each radiation treatment but doesn't seem to be healing. Can anyone recommend anything that was helpful to ease the stinging? The nurses have advised to keep the area moist with solugel or aloe vera and bandage. It's very uncomfortable and I hate applying the sorbolene cream as my breast is sensitive to touch and the cream is hard to apply without rubbing. My nipple area has all peeled away and very very red. Will this eventually heal? Feeling really tired too and restricted in doing some activites especially those involving lifting my arm above shoulder as it stretches the skin under the arm. Can't wait for tomorrow for it all to finish but am worried that the blisters will get worse before getting better. Doctor recommended salt water soaks and massaging the breast area with olive oil to relieve the tension and help skin recover after radiation. Feeling really depressed. :-((12Views0likes2CommentsRe: A day in the life of a radiotherapy patient
Hi all, I've had 16 sessions with 4 more to go. My breast and underarm is quite RED/BROWN with a stinging sensation. The nipple area has virtually all peeled away and very very tender to touch. I get tingling and stinging along my arm and underarm more so than my breast. I found that spraying it with pure Aloe Vera and then moisturing it with sorbolene cream seems to help ease the stinginess. It's also quite itchy too. Just glad that the weekend is near and I get a break. Also no radiation on Monday due to maintenance on the machines. Yayyy, get to have a rest and will just apply cream, cream and more cream. Hopefully it will settle down a bit before I get hit again next week. All the best everyone. Whichever way you look at it, not a pleasant thing at all. God bless xxxx6Views0likes0Comments
