Hair Care

Hi lovely ladies,

Just wanted to ask if it is ok or if anyone has had keratin treatment done on their hair after chemo or radiation?

I am interested in gettting this done to my hair as it has become extremely frizzy and hard to manage but wasn't too sure if it is harmful. It has been over 12 months since my radiation theraphy and I did not have any chemo.

If any of you ladies can provide feedback/knowledge on this I would muchly appreciate it.

Thanking you

  • Dear Yamo,

It’s Lisa from the Policy Team. It is great that you have posted on the online network as other women may have experiences trying a keratin hair treatment. It could be worth giving your breast care nurse a ring, but your hairdresser may also have more information.

The Cancer Council also runs a website called 'iheard' which provides evidence-based answers to questions people may have. If you would like to have a look at the website or post a question, you can find the page here.

    Warm regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Yamo, I wish I could offer some advice, but I'm still in the middle of active treatment. I'm just excited that 7 weeks post chemo, I have an increasing amount of fluff on my head, and am starting to get eyelashes back.

I sure someone will be able to offer some advice.

    Take care, Lyn
