Skincare after radiaiton?

I have 2 more radation treatments to go and my skin is quite burnt and sore. I have blisters under the fold of my breast and underarm. The nurses are taking care of it after each radiation treatment but doesn't seem to be healing.

Can anyone recommend anything that was helpful to ease the stinging? The nurses have advised to keep the area moist with solugel or aloe vera and bandage. It's very uncomfortable and I hate applying the sorbolene cream as my breast is sensitive to touch and the cream is hard to apply without rubbing.

My nipple area has all peeled away and very very red. Will this eventually heal? Feeling really tired too and restricted in doing some activites especially those involving lifting my arm above shoulder as it stretches the skin under the arm.

Can't wait for tomorrow for it all to finish but am worried that the blisters will get worse before getting better. Doctor recommended salt water soaks and massaging the breast area with olive oil to relieve the tension and help skin recover after radiation.

Feeling really depressed. :-((

  • Thank you lovely ladies. I'll try some of the options and see which works the best. The skin has started has started to peel and very very red. My LAST radiation was today yayyyy!!! Thank god for that. You beautiful ladies have reassured me that it will get back to normal because, looking at it I was thinking how the hell is this going to heal when it is virtually like charcoal. I feel sooooo much better knowing this. Wishing you all the very best. Love xxxx
  • I have read your post and hope you are feeling better. I used an ice pack a lot. It felt lovely!! I also used a cream that had a small amout of Cortisone in it. Derm Aid, available from the chemist. It helped a lot.
