Worried

Hi all I'm 42 and last year had a double mastectomy following BC diagnosis. I've been having a few niggly issues so my surgeon sent me for a ct scan, blood tests and I had a gastroscopy. I have something called ground glass opacification in my left lung, a nodule in my stomach which was removed during the gastroscopy and something in my liver measuring 7mm.  I don't have my appointment with the surgeon until next Wednesday but I'm freaking out. could all these things be coincidence and nothing at all? everyone keeps telling me polyps/nodules in stomach are very common but I can't find anything on the www to support this and the other two things, well I just don't know! SO so so over everything, not sure how much more I can take :(

  • Oh Tina

i have just been through this about a week ago with my first mammogram after treatment. I got myself into such a state that I was completely panic stricken. It turned out to only be a cyst and I felt like such a fool for making such a big deal but I put two and two together and came up with 5. The medical staff had no idea that what they had told me had put my mind into overdrive. It such a dreadful feeling and when it's all said and done, if the cancer comes back you just have to deal with it, just like you had to before. Perhaps give the doctor a call and see if you can get in earlier or get a bit of an idea over the phone. I honestly don't know how you control these feelings as they can be all consuming. Yes breath, try to do some meditation and try to be kind to yourself. Good luck with your results. You will be in my thoughts. Karen xox

  • Hi Tinaw, CAT scans and other tests can be such a double edged sword, they can provide you with peace of mind, but equally they can uncover other, quite often unrelated, health issues. My first CAT scan showed a nodule on my thyroid and a spot on my liver. After several nerve-wracking days I got the results and both turned out to be OK. Try and keep busy to distract yourself as much as possible before you see your surgeon, very difficult I know, and here's hoping all will be OK for you. Jane xx

Hi Tinaw, I know that it feels like a long time to wait, but you need to take this 1 appointment at a time. As the other girls have suggested breathe, do something nice for yourself and spend some special time with the people that you love. Once you get your results, then you can plan, be engle to yourself in the meantime. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ??????

  • Tina ...hi:):) A little while ago I found a lump and my doc sent me off for an ultrasound. He said he was 'pretty sure' it was fixed to my rib!! I was scared witless all over again, but it was nothing at all.It has gone now!! The week before that a lady on here was convinced she had secondary BC,and we all jumped online and tried to put other scenarios forward. She said' I just know it's something bad' .She got her scans back and it was nothing bad:) Please try to just focus on other things as you wait for your results, and know that whatever it is,you will deal with it.Dont Google if you can help it,because there are so many things with so many different names, and you will only frighten yourself.Stay on here where you know the support is from others that have experienced the same thing.Nice to here from you again Tina:) Cheers Robynxox

  • Hi Tina As Kezza says - breathe - you got through the last episode so you are certainly strong enough to get through anything else thrown at you. Try not to think too much (I know that is hard !) and just wait until you know for sure. You are in our thoughts. Come back and chat if you need to. Hugs Summer :-)
