Yes you do. But even people with multiple nodes can even have cure. My niece...10 pos...14 years on and no evidence of disease.

T2N2M0  N says if N0 no nodes pos. N1 1 TO 3 Nodes pos. N2 is 4 to 9 nodes pos. So i guess N3 is up sh.t creek lol ??  You learn a lot fast if u dont want to be a mushroom hey !

So on pathology a T ...stands for tumour and number after it is 1 2 or 3 usually
The N ..is nodes ...number after it is quantity positive. 
So my path. ...I had a stage 1 tumour and 3 nodes taken all negative. My path was T1N0.

HI all and thanks :)  I spoke to the registrar a couple of days after the posting and was told they were palpably .suspicious and two thirds were removed ie level one and level two.  Im not sure what all the numbers mean eg N2 T this etc, , ,  but i guess all that will be explained next week. Im not concerned about bone strength as it was already crappy lol and as Im a paraplegic and in a wheelchair, its pretty unlikely I will fall and break anything loll All these letters, numbers and grades need to have encyclopedia for a brain. Day 10 now and which they would take this damn drain out though cause my armpit, upper inner arm and shoulder blade feel like they are on fire!

My surgeon and bc nurse both said if when doing sentinal nodes they had suspicions of any then they take more. Hopefully all good. Kath x

Yep, I had chemo and hormonal therapy. Tumour was not small, and while only one node affected was pretty good, none would have been better. None of this is fun (though we really don't want more people in this club, it's big enough already!) but how little fun is really variable. I sailed through the first three months of chemo (apart from losing my hair, but I knew I would so I was prepared and was fine) but some side effects were a bit of a bother in the 2nd three months. But by then I was more than half way through so the end was in sight. And that helps a lot. I'm post menopausal, have been on Femara for 4 years. I knew it would not do my bone density much good and it isn't, but luckily mine was really good to begin with so I think I'll see it through (5 years) OK. No aches, pains or other side effects. It's all a bit of a lottery. BUT all going well, I will be 5 years cancer free later this year. And that's worth a lot. Best wishes.

I had one very enlarged node biopsied before surgery, and it was malignant. As I had several more just as large, I wasn't surprised that they were taken out too, and a few more just to be on the safe side. As it turned out, only the biopsied node was malignant, cancer cells can irritate tissue around them and the rest of the enlarged nodes were just mightily peeved. Seemed then, and now, a perfectly sensible measure to remove them. Good luck. 

You might be very happy he did take a few more nodes at the time. My surgeon was so sure the sentinel wasn't effected he just took that one. When the biopsy came back it was positive for cancer when then meant I had to have another surgery and he took all my nodes out which tested negative. If he hadn't been so lazy in the first place and taken a few more nodes like you, I might not have had to endure another surgery.
