Me so far......

Hi. 4 weeks ago I found a lump which I did not seem to remember being there. I told my hubby about it and booked to see the GP. He send me off for an ultrasound the next day. The radiographer straight away told me it was not a cyst and she requested a mammogram and core biopsy there and then. OMG everything happened so quickly from there.

The next week I recieved the diagnosis that I had breast cancer. Now only a couple of weeks on I have just had a left breast mastectomy and sentinal nobe biopsy.

We are back to the surgeon soon for pathology report and refferal to the oncologist for chemo.

Such a scary journey so far, so much waiting inbetween each step!

Well we have been back to the surgeon for results. It was as scary a day as my original diagnosis day! Anyway, I had 4 nodes removed and they were all CLEAR!!!!!! yay I was so happy.

Now Im waiting for the oncologist to call and start Chemo treatment.

  • It's crazy isn't it?  My experience has been very similar, had my left mastectomy 3 weeks ago and just a trace of cells came back in my nodes.  At hospital this week to start chemo.  You're right it all happens so fast it is really surreal, but yes good to get it all out of the way quickly.  Best of Luck xx

  • Hi

Yes the waiting is so hard and scary and yet also a good time to spoil yourself with diversions if possible - go to lunch, etc with friends, pamper yourself with a pedicure, etc. I'm not sure if you have children nor how old but I spent time visiting my children or they came home for a couple of days.

My story is very similar to yours just 4 weeks or so earlier - discovered lump, GP, ultrasound, etc then left brest mastectomy and 4 nodes removed. Although knowing that treatment was going to include chemo, radiation and hormone was scary in itself once a map of the treatment started to take place I was more settled and I'm sure once it stats I'll be even better.

Reading many comments from the wonderful ladies here on bcna has been so supportive, allayed many fears and answered many questions. Remember no question is silly and no judgements are made.

I will be thinking of you and hope the pathology report is positive.

    Take care, Dette xxx

  • Hi

It's a scarey time for you right now waiting for your pathology results as it does dictate a bit of your future treatment. I went through what you are experiencing a year ago had chemo radiation and am now on tamoxifen. My husband and I just decided it was a blip on our life plan but life goes on. I am back at work have had a one year all clear mammo and ultrasound and am learning to live without my boob! I thought I'd never get here but with the help of this website and lots of other BC people here I am.

This is a great site to ask questions share your frustrations and just read and blog.

Good luck with your path result let us know how you get on.
