Biopsy by mammogram
I had my one year follow-up mammogram. Right breast all clear but now there's a new lump in my (previously healthy) left breast.
Doc said he'd book me in for a biopsy under mammorgram.
Considering the first mam hurt like hell - what is a prolonged mam gonna feel like?
Has anyone had this procedure and can describe it for me please.

- Frances54MemberI had a biopsy by mammogram because the doctor nicked a vein which bled and flooded the ultrasound so they couldnt see where to take the biopsy from. Rather than wait two weeks I chose the mammogram. The only bit was the local stung for a few seconds. Its a bit awkward but ok and the staff were so lovely and caring that it almost seemed laughable. I ended up with a purple boob and a giant haematoma. You'll be fine.
- steplightlyMember@jax1964 i had biopsy by ultasound and a week later biopsy by mammogram Took a bit of time to do Wasnt painful and they had to position me and I wasnt allowed to move for 15 minutes The staff were caring and concerned to keep me comfortable through the process Hope all goes well PM me if you want xo
- I have had one of these. I was fearful before hand but it wasn’t so bad. Not as painful as I thought. I had a local and it stings at first.
- RomlaMemberSmall suggestion - a couple of ibuprofen an hour beforehand might help.
- kezmuscMemberAwww that just stinks @Jax1964 .
Biopsies in general are just the pitts. Both of my core biopsies I nearly jumped off the table when it made that big clicking sound, even though they warned me it was going to do it and not to move. Probably why the first one missed LOL.
I've never had a biopsy under mammogram but I did have the hookwire checked with that after they put it in via u/s. That really wasn't too much fun considering it was still terribly bruised from the previous 2 bx's.
All fingers and toes crossed for you for it just be a cyst. xoxoxoxo - kmakmMemberI know someone who had a biposy by mammogram.
My tumour was in a very difficult spot so they warned me that they may have to biopsy it by mammogram. It took several goes (ow) but they were able to do it with the ultrasound. K xox - SoldierCrabMemberI agree reckon Doctor meant under Ultrasound.
sucks but it can still be just a cyst.... - arpieMemberIt seems such a harder way of doing it tho!! I wonder who else has had one done that way, by Mammogram @Jax1964
I just thought he's said the wrong thing too! - JulieVT11Member@arpie neither had I until that fateful day and was probably a good thing I didn't know what I was in for
