Amoena Breast Forms
Hi ladies
Has anyone any experience of the Amoena breast forms?
I had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago, followed by two additional surgeries which created extra bruising and swelling. I am now up to wearing my fantastic Berlei post op bra with insert and feeling more human (thank you, BCNA and Berlei).
I am looking at being professionally fitted for an Amoena Breast Form and am hoping some ladies have comments re their experience of the various styles.
I am leaning towards a 'contact' form so it sticks to my body but that may not be suitable in hot weather or due to Tamoxifen flushes !
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you. Have a good weekend.

Hello everyone
I have just spoken with a lingerie shop some 75 kms from home re the Amoena breast forms. The trained fitter was not available but the lady was very knowledgable as she assists the fitter when they are busy.
She told me that the only Amoena form designed to wear against the skin is the Contact range.
All others, including the Natura, are designed to fit in the pocketted bra. The beauty of the Natura is that it flattens when lying down. Apparently feels more natural. It is also quite soft.
The lady said not to rush into purchasing a permanent breast form. Some ladies are anxious to get measured and get a proper form however the Berlei post op bra and soft forms are designed to be worn for up to 12 weeks after surgery. This provides time for the chest wall or breast to heal and the scars to be minimal. The longer you wait the better the flatness and the better fit is able to be made. This will also determine the best shape prosthesis given the shape of the scars.
I am so glad I am taking the time to check into all this and I will happily wear the Berlie gear until I feel the scar is at it's best, or close to.
Do hope this information is also helpful to others as well.
Keep being positive and enjoy life, with or without that boob !

- TonyaMMemberWhat you choose can depend on what size your other breast is.If you are large then being lopsided is more obvious and can even cause shoulder pain if not balanced up properly.I was fitted 4 years ago at my local Myers store in Castle hill in Sydney. The ladies were lovely and very helpful.I am a16c and wear the Amoena natura style390 silicon which fits in my bra pocket.I wouldn't wear it on the skin incase it slipped out.It cost $429 and Medicare pays back $400.I feel better wearing it cos it's weight balances me.I like the Berlei post op bra- not pretty but comfortable.I have some Amoena bras which are ok too.Amoena also make a soft form which is lighter called Leisure form and also Weighted Leisure form- both made out of foam and cost around the $70 mark. You can use normal bras and sew a pocket in.I do this with my swimmers.Triumph make a comfortable bra (no wire, wide straps)suitable to sew in a pocket called"endless comfort".Myers also sell the pockets but I just buy stretchy fabric at Spotlight.I also sew stretchy lace into any lower neckline tops- looks like a fake cami and not as hot.Hope this helps.Tonya xx

Hi Carmel and Margaret
Thank you both for your great information. I will keep it all in mind when the lady comes to measure me.
At this stage I think I need a full form but that will depend on the final outcome of the scarring. With three surgeries half the stitch line is currently quite thick.
I will look at the various models on the website and read all about them.
Thanks again

Hi again Robyn
The Amoena lingerie is quite pretty and made for the purpose. They also have the proper pockets to sew into a regular bra and I understand that whilst in the past they did not recommend underwire bras they now make their own. Personally, I prefer the shape an underwire gives me.
The Berlei post op one is not so pretty but still good for everyday use, I would think. I have just bought another one as it will be a while before all the swelling is down and I can have a permanent form measured. I hate the feeling of poor old 'leftie' hanging around swinging - when I had both I could happily go without a bra when home.
Keep watching and we may both get some good advice.
Kind regards

I wear a amoena Natura Light 2S breast form all the time and would not be with out it.
I do sew the excess material in the bra pocket into a pleat so it holds the form very comfortably in place.

Hi Summer
I have the Amoena Balance Delta (a partial) .......I had a mastectomy with implant recon but due to bad contracture I have now had a smaller implant put in & I am quite lopsided so have the prosthesis. It is silicone & I have it directly on my skin in my normal everyday underwired bra. I doesn't move around it is comfortable & not hot. I must say I didn't have it when I had the worst of my hot flushes but I will say I do feel heat/humidity a great deal & I haven't had any problems with the prosthesis........that breast doesn't sweat anymore !!!!!! I don't know why but that is the honest truth !. I am using my older smaller one (same type) as my swimming one. I sewed some pockets in my tank tops & just rinse it afterwards.
You can have a look at them on the internet.
Here in Canberra we have a little store who fit them by appointment & they were great (under $150.00 for the partial) & I got it all back from medicare.
Best of luck
