TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- Kiwi_AngelMember@Sarnicad I ended up using panadine forte for round 2 and endone for 3 and 4. If u r in pain speak to your oncologist and don’t suffer in silence. Zoffran is the best for nausea too. Hope this cycle isn’t as bad - 2 was my best xoxo
- BlondyMemberOn day 3 after my first my body felt like I had the flu, ached, sore and a ginormous headache. Didn't know I was allowed to take pain killers so the 2nd round I was ready. Made a huge difference. I was unsure about mixing medications but don't suffer unnecessarily. Day 4 I turned into the woman from hell. Day 5 turned the corner and things got better.
- SarnicadMember@fletch I got 2-3 days free and then it hit with a vengeance along with a few other things. So I had chemo no 2 today and so far so good just tired tonight but I’m sure the fun will start so
- BlondyMemberFletch, If your chemo company gave you a 'showbag' of goodies, you may have got a mouthwash. If not you can make one with bi carb. I rinsed my mouth very very often to help keep at bay mouth ulcers. I did get one, but did all I could to prevent anymore happening. Helps to keep thrush away. Drink lots of water. Didn't get a metal mouth either. Let's hope you don't. There's a myriad of side effects but with luck you'll only get a few but at least you'll know what to expect. I found it wasn't as bad as I was envisaging. The mind is a powerful thing so make it work for you by being as positive as you can to ride the storm. There's always people here to help get you through it.
- kmakmMember@Sister Good question! I found some leftover frozen pineapple in a dark corner of the freezer two months later. I ate it and I enjoyed it but the passion had gone! The craze was over.
- SisterMemberHow's your feeling about pineapple now @kmakm?
- kmakmMemberIn the end I decided to deal with the anxiety I was feeling by grasping the bull by the horns. I went into the chemo unit to say hello to the NUM who was so nice to me that first desperate day. She remembered me and was pleased to see me with hair! We had a chat and I thanked her for her kindness and care. I felt better afterwards.
- kmakmMember@Fletch I found my taste was barely altered in Cycle 1, a bit in Cycle 2, and a lot from Cycle 3 onwards. Pretty much everything tasted wrong, and a few things positively revolting! My big tip is get a fresh pineapple, slice and portion it, and then freeze it. There's something about the enzymes in pineapple that really helped my mouth. My GP put me onto it and by the end of chemo I was obsessed with it!
- Kiwi_AngelMember@Fletch I had my TC chemo on a Monday and found the side effects kicked in around Thursday but everyone is different xo
- Doin_itMember@Fletch I’m due for my 2nd round next week & so far I haven’t had metal mouth & I’m still able to eat & drink as usual, so everyone is so different. Wishing you all the best xx
