Tamoxifin Blues
Hi all, I have been on Tamoxifin now for about 12 months, i have serious joint pain and cramps, i am moody and i seem to have lost my enthusiasm for anything, the hot flushes are really doing my head in all day, and night is even worse and i just dont know what to do really.
I am not really getting very much sleep which is really hard when you have to work full time, i find myself wanting to go to sleep at 3pm, my Dr wants me to go onto anti depressants purely for the hot flushes but i am not keen to take these- yes i can be a bit moody but i dont believe i am depressed and what are the side affects to taking these?? especially long term i mean i have to be on Tamoxifin for 5-10 yrs so i cant see how a anti depressant can help me in the short term?
I thought once i had all the treatment i could go back to normal but i dont think anything is normal after BC
Just felt the need to vent as sometimes it all feels too much but i will keep going and hopefully gets better soon.

its hard and I agree, there is no normal anymore its just adjusting to a new way of life. I too get very tired and by 3pm feel like I have trouble making it through the rest of the afternoon. Try the magnisium its seem to help also have a look online at cooling pads, they are awesome it cools your core right down and lets you sleep.
Vent all you like, its a crap hand we have been dealt and you have every right to be unhappy.

Hi Di, I know exactly where you are. I own my own business where I am on my feet all day. Recently I have had a week where it was so busy that by the time I got to Saturday I literally couldn't move, every bone and joint in my body was so sore, recovered by Monday morning just to go through it all again. I have now realised that I have to reduce my work hours.
I was thinking about going onto Tamoxifen which is meant to be better on the joints??
Do not be afraid of the anti-depresants, I had terrible hot flushes all day and night, and sweaty body so my GP put me onto a mild dose They don't make me happy, wish they did LOL, but they have taken the severity out of the hot flushes. There is also a group of ladies on here who I have read are taking magnesium tablets for their hot flushes, perhaps worth a try?
I sometimes feel like a walking zombie, hope it all gets better with time.

Hi Di vent away I also dont know what normal is any more, life has become appointments, hot flushes and what ever bc can throw at us.
I also am trying to work and very tired at the end of the day, all we can do is take it one day at a time. I try and get as much laughter into my day as I can because otherwise I cry if i think to much about this crappy year. Not long now new year will be here hoping it is better for you and everyone else.
