Need suggestions for instant relief from cording
Please help. Got some small cuts on my hand. Got lymphedema - wore my compression sleeve and glove and that improved. But now got cording which is the worst it has ever been - very painful, runs down to wrist.
I've been trying to raise my arm above my head to stretch it. Don't have strength to keep up massaging it myself. My Lymphedema specialist is on holidays. What else can I try? I really have had enough. Need something that will work quickly.
Thanks

- AfraserMemberI have had only one bout of cellulitis in nearly seven years of lymphoedema - the likely culprit was a manicure! And quite possibly no fault of the salon, just increased risk of a vulnerable arm to the bugs everywhere around us. I didn’t twig what had caused the redness for 24 hours. Mercifully my immune system is still working and it had abated by the time I woke up and got to the doctor. High temperatures are easy to miss too. Just don’t dismiss red skin if you are susceptible.
- NadiMemberI guess it's a good lesson for others. If you have cuts on your hand, then lymphedema and a cord, and your cord gets suddenly more painful than usual and then your skin gets red and mottled get to a doc quick. The specialist doctor just told mottled skin is an early sign of cellulitis and sepsis and lymphedema puts us at higher risk of infection. I also had a fever of 38.5 and didn't know it.
- AfraserMemberGlad you got it checked, hope you recover very soon!
- primekMemberGlad to hear. The weird marks sounded odd but knew you were at the Doctors. Get well soon.
- Jane221MemberSorry to hear that @Nadi. I hope you're on the mend soon.
- Giovanna_BCNAMemberHello @Nadi how annoying, so glad you saw your Doctor and had your cording/lymphangitis assessed and are now getting the care you need. Take care of you.
- iserbrownMemberOh goodness Nadi!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Take care - NadiMemberWell I am now admitted to hospital. Ended up I have lymphangitis caused by nip from a puppy. Blood cultures confirmed bacteria from the pup’s saliva caused infection and my lymph system just could’t cope. So what I thought was a cord wasn’t a cord afterall. Now I am on IV infusion of Piptax for 3 days.<sigh>.
- primekMemberContinue with compression sleeve. Some laser might assist the cutting.
Try walking your arm up the wall with your fingers, one up lean into it. It will hurt but it will stretch. You can do in a corner area, even more effective. - NadiMemberHi @kezmusc
it is running from armpit to wrist. I am literally at the GP now. I’ll ask about the 5 free sessions. But this one has also left all my skin down my arm mottled which has never happened before. Soooo painful
also, should I continue to wear my compression sleeve while I have a cord?
