Medicinal Cannabis Oil & reduction of pain, improvement in well being

Hi guys

I've also put this link in the 'Early Days of Letrozole' thread - as so many are having extremely painful side effects and watching this video (shown last Dec) that follows the life & death of Dan Hallam (a young Aussie with Bowel Cancer) may help .....

The use of Cannabis Oil as a pain killer can make the difference in quality of life in MANY cancer sufferers (and other nasty conditions which can otherwise be debilitating to the extreme) ...... as this video shows as it follows the story of many (particularly kids.)

Please watch the entire video before commenting ...... it takes a while, but it is well worth the watch, as it is Australian made & relates to our own health system.  Share the link with family & friends.  We NEED this to be freely available to those in chronic pain - especially those with Mets BC or extreme pain side effects from AIs

  • Thank you for the video link @arpie. It is certainly worth watching.

Both my oncologist and GP are supportive of my medical cannabis use.  However, they have found the process to access medical cannabis legally to be: complex; almost impossible for patients to qualify unless all other treatments options have been exhausted; AND more expensive than the black market. While technically we can get access to legal medical cannabis, I have found the reality to be very different.

I’m lucky to live in the northern rivers region, where I find it easy to access medical cannabis oil from a reliable supplier.  I’ve met a number of women living with metastatic breast cancer who live in a city and had no idea where they could confidently access medical grade product.

I look forward to the day we were all able to easily & legally access medical cannabis products .... even tailored medicines like they are creating in Israel

  • Thanks @arpie It is a 'long read' but well worth it to provide some background into what may, or may not, be possible if the restrictions on this drug are eased.

The reporting seemed measured and avoided the cringe worthy claims that cannabis is a panacea that will cure cancer, epilepsy or any other condition. When it is presented as a product that makes it easier to endure treatment and chronic disease the 'whack job' stigma is greatly reduced. I'm hoping that we will all be able to access versions of the drug if we need it in the near future. Unfortunately, lack of progressive thinking could slow that process down.

At the moment there are 18 federal licences for the  cultivation of medicinal cannabis, 10 for research  and 13 for the manufacture of a regulated product. It is not possible to see who has obtained those permits, but anecdotally they have not been given to backyard producers. There are, I feel, legitimate concerns about who is going to corner the market for a product that should be cheap and easily produced. We will see.  Even if it is approved for use in Australia it could be years before it is covered by the PBS and I have no doubt there will be considerable profits to be made in the interim.

I'd love to get hold of some seeds that are heavy on the CDB content and low on the THC --I loath being stoned and anxious and don't want to fall foul of a random drug test which prevents me conducting my own little research project on how effective it is for pain management.

  • Medicinal cannabis is legal in Victoria. Any patient, with any medical condition can apply via their doctor to use medicinal cannabis. All medicinal cannabis products need to be prescribed by a medical practitioner as part of an overall treatment plan.
