Constant head spins on AC chemo

I completed my 2nd round of AC chemo just over a week ago and I've been having constant head spins for the last few days. I pretty much always feel like I'm about to pass out and it gets worse when I lie down and close my eyes. I had this a bit after my first round but not enough for me to be concerned. I mentioned it to my onc and he didn't seem too concerned. They took my blood pressure both sitting down and standing up and it was fine. I don't have any other symptoms like headaches, blurry vision, memory loss etc, it's just the contact head spin. I feel like I'm drugged up to the eyeballs constantly and can barely function and it's getting really annoying. It doesn't seem to be a common side effect of chemo so my onc doesn't really seem concerned. Did anyone else have this side effect??
  • Hi Ro.10 I have had dizzy turns in the past. They say feeling a bit anxious  can bring it on. My G.P ordered a brain scan first just to be on the safe side, which was clear and then treated me for positional vertigo. The treatment being some exercise which are quite easy .The exercises are called Brandt-Daroff exercises. You can google them. They worked for me but it is always a good idea to check with your G.P first. Hope this may help
  • Hi Ro10, I have had 3 rounds of AC so far & find when I lie down I get dizzy, it is not for long & settles. I have high blood pressure & thought it may be that, I didn't mention it. I had a skin rash with round 2 on my back which is not common so I think there are all sorts of things that could occur.
  • Thanks for that @primek I think I will try and see my GP over the next few days as it's driving me crazy
  • I took stemitil for the nausea as allergic to maxalon and that helped inadvertently helped. It was like motion sickness...even found  looking at screens difficult. The stemitil did help...and its commonly  prescribed  for tinnitus...which causes similar symptoms. Worth a try. A GP can order it for you if a while before next oncology appt.
  • Thanks @primek it's good to know I'm not the only one that has had this side effect. My onc just looked at me blankly when I told him about it which was a bit frustrating! If it wasn't for the constant head spin, I would actually be feeling really good! Now I just need a magic cure to make it go away  :p
  • For a week after AC I was constantly faint. didn't  get the spins when lying down  but certainly did when up and much worse if standing still. I stopped driving altogether and never went  out alone. It settled week 2 and 3.
