After 6 years back pains

Dear ladies, I have started to experience severe back pain after 6 years of taking Anastrozole. Can anyone have side effects of joint pains after taking of Anastrozole for such a long time or it can be other reasons? Please share your ideas,

  • @Zan I definitely agree with the others get it checked out
when I mentioned my back pain to my oncologist i was sent straight to bone scan and CT scan with contrast.
She did ask when, where is the pain worse how long does it last and does anything relieve it.
Could be nothing. Several different things can cause pain. Its best to know whats doing it and get help. There is nothing worse. It tends to make me cranky, tired and if it goes on too long down in the dumps. Physio has help me giving various strategies to avoid making it worse.
Hope its not too long before you get answers
  • Sorry to hear that, @Zan - How long  have you had the pains?  If you haven't injured yourself, got a new bed or even new shoes (that could contribute to aches & pains) ... anything lasting longer than 2-3 weeks, really should be checked out.

How long since you've had a bone density test/bone scan/CT?

My mantra has always been:   If in doubt, get checked out.

If it was me (and it happened last year) I'd contact my Onc and request they send a referral thru for those tests to be done, for peace of mind.  (And it's good to have some new films as a basic 'history' too, for referral down the line.)

take care & all the best xx

  • @June1952- No I live in NSW. Actually, I have stopped walking or exercising and that could be the reason.
    Thank you for your reply.
  • Hello @Zan  -  if you live down here in Vic, have had one of the many viruses and have been sitting up all night then that may be the cause of your back pain.  🤣🤣
Have you been walking, exercising or doing anything else a bit different to normal ?
Seriously, though, any new pain should be advised to your medical team so other issues can be ruled out.
