Balance

Is anybody else experiencing trouble with there balance. Sometimes I will wobble or get up from a chair and feel off balance ??I have had it for a while thought once I went onto the hormone tablets that it might go away 😢

  • I don't feel particularly off-balance (most of the time) but I can no longer do those stand on one leg with your eyes closed tests.
  • I get balance issues occasionally but it’s peripheral neuropathy quite definitely. But you can train your brain to override the signals - yoga is good, standing on one leg (even if you can only do it for a few seconds to start with) is good, but have something close at hand to grab, even with your eyes open. It can improve if you persist.
  • Yeah, mine is shot. I don't know what to blame and it might have happened anyway, though I haven't been truly comfortable on a horse or pushbike since my first chemo in 2006.  I'll never ride a motorbike again.
Some of the things that help are yoga type activities which get your body and brain connecting. Strengthening the muscles in your ankles by doing simple thing like standing on one leg (and then the other) whenever you think of it is useful. Close your eyes (though hang onto something) if you are game. Brain-body connection
  • Hi @ChezaH,

If it's Tamoxifen you're on, it can make you light headed, dizzy and mess with your balance.  Not sure about the other HT's.  I had it terribly for months after I started.  Some days I wasn't game to drive ( try riding a horse with that going on lol)  It's a lot better now with the change of brand and time, but I still get a few small doses of here and there. It disappears when I have my breaks.
Hope it buggers off soon for you lovely.
