Anastrozole

live been on Anastrozole since May 2017. I had hormone receptive BC, chemo, double mastectomy and oopherectomy (also BRACA2 ). I've been having a lot of side effects which I put down to Anastrozole: confusion, weight gain, lethargy, fractured ankle,joint pain and stiffness, as well as bouts of depression. I'm considering speaking to my oncologist about changing to Tamoxifen. I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar issues on Anastrozole and if you changed to Tamoxifen? Any advice would be appreciated.

- Bone density scan tomorrow, my first. As it looks like I'll be on Anastrozole starting in May my oncologist wants to get a baseline reading on ma bones. The BC conveyor belt keeps on rolling, so many tests.
- @Joannie I do the same, the overlooking, a Stage 0 melanoma off my left calf. I have an annual mole check.
After all the events of the previous two years I got to September and thought I better pay attention to me. Mole check, pap smear, allergy specialist, lung function, mammogram... And then it all came to a grinding halt. Thank goodness I was sensible. My tumour was very deep in a big boob. It would have been such a long time before it was palpable. I would have been in serious trouble. It pays to be anal about this stuff eh? - @Joannie There are two cancers in my family, breast on the maternal side and bowel on the paternal. My father and his mother had brushes with nasty polyp situations and my aunt died of it at 62. When I am done with BC treatment I'll have to take a deep breath and get a colonoscopy :/
- As someone who has a bit of survivorship on the ledger, I am not sure about the secret handshake stuff, but remember only a relatively small percentage of the people who have had and survive breast cancer are using this website. Survivers are all around you. Maybe the badges need to be worn by those who wish to reach out - Hi, I'm a breast cancer surviver too.
