After a break, Letrozole, continued...
Drug holiday over, today I started taking Letrozole again. At night this time. Don't know that it will make any difference but worth a try.
If/when (she said optimistically) the side effects return, I'll start my curcumin trial.
It's been really really good to be pain (and dandruff) free for a few weeks. I feel it's given me a boost, and more strength to continue.
If the side effects don't settle down my oncologist was quite keen to put me onto Tamoxifen. From what I've read here I'm not so sure. Better the devil you know...?

- kmakmMemberMe too @kitkatb. The worst pain out of a biopsy, a hookwire procedure, two wide local excisions, chemo and a BMX & DIEP recon. For us it was excruciating but for others not too bad. So random. K xox
- kitkatbMemberHope it helps too @kmakm. You just made me cringe talking about the blue dye. For me that was the most excruciating pain I had out of everything. OMG. 4 needles of hell. xo
- SisterMemberI hope it does help @kmakm
- kmakmMemberToday I went for my first acupuncture session in an effort to decrease the hot flushes and the bone and joint pain.
I've had acupuncture before, 19 years ago to help a very bad back after my first child was born. Combined with physio it helped tremendously, and didn't hurt at all. Unlike today, which hurt like the very devil was taking red hot knitting needles to me. I even involuntarily swore at one point the pain was so bad. The worst pain I've had since that large needle full of radioactive blue dye was plunged into my nipple...
I've got to have a few more sessions to see if it will be useful. I sincerely hope so. This breast cancer gig ain't for sissies. - kezmuscMember@kmakm
Goodness I remember those flushes that make you sick, dizzy, your heart races and a wave of hot prickles passing through. I feel for you lovel I truly do. They are so dibilitating. It just makes life so difficult when are getting dozens of them a day. I hope they start easing off real soon.
xoxoxoxo - DebbieMcMember@kmakm That's awful if you are nauseous taking this medication, sorry if it's been asked already but have you spoken to your Oncologist about this & if so what did he advise? I don't think I'm having any trouble on it now, I did after treatment but now 4yrs later I'm tolerating it. xoxo
- kmakmMember@kitkatb Snap! I had a doozy of one this afternoon. Don't get them very often. I'm often nauseous on it. And sometimes my hot flushes are preceded by a wave of nausea as well. It really is a crappy medication. Big hug, K xox
- kitkatbMemberThanks @Brenda5 have never had a proper heart check since finishing treatment last year although have had blood pressure checks. Will mention it to my GP when I see her. Where do you get the Color Doctor wrist monitor are they at pharmacies or online. xo
- Brenda5MemberGet yourself a Color Doctor wrist blood pressure monitor for when that happens @kitkatb , it might be affecting your heart. It did to me. I don't take Letrozole or anything any more.
- kitkatbMemberHas anyone had dizzy spells on Letrozole. Had a stonker of one this morning for the first time feeling clammy and nausea. Quite a frightening experience as thought I would pass out especially as on my own at home at the moment. I haven't changed med's or done anything different. thanks in advance guys. xo
