After a break, Letrozole, continued...
Drug holiday over, today I started taking Letrozole again. At night this time. Don't know that it will make any difference but worth a try.
If/when (she said optimistically) the side effects return, I'll start my curcumin trial.
It's been really really good to be pain (and dandruff) free for a few weeks. I feel it's given me a boost, and more strength to continue.
If the side effects don't settle down my oncologist was quite keen to put me onto Tamoxifen. From what I've read here I'm not so sure. Better the devil you know...?

- MjhekeMemberI have just started Aromasin and am wondering how long it takes for the side effects to ‘kick in’??
thanks,
Michelle x - FlaneuseMember@Sister I understand absolutely what you're going through. I haven't regretted my decision to go off it - not for a moment. Today is day 30 without it. My oncologist said it would take about a month for side effects to go. It's only the past few days that I've woken without pain in my hands. I still have pain in my upper arms - deep pain like in the bone. The face and chest flushing at bedtime seems to have stopped. Am still tired (though less) and weak (the same). Arthritis in my hands is considerably worse than before surgery. I've googled about Letrozole-induced arthritis and it seems it's a thing.
I've managed to lose 2 kg. Today I start Lite n Easy and I'm going to try it for three weeks. I'm a good cook and I like cooking but lately I've not been motivated. If I can lose some weight and thus feel better, without having to think about what I'm going to eat, that might motivate me to then start cooking Mosley-style again. I want to lose another 12 kg to get to the weight I feel good at - 68kg. - Brenda5MemberYep I was first told, 2 years but apparently it was only 2 years on Tamoxifen. He neglected to tell me until the 2 years were up that it is another 3 to 5 years on Letrozole. Grrrrr!
- SisterMemberI was reflecting the other day (in front of the mirror actually - hah), about the impact of Letrozole... My onc said when he prescribed it, that the intention was that I would be on it for 5 years and then we would discuss the current research and decide whether to stop or continue until 7 or 10 years. My question for him in May will be whether he was really just saying 5 years because the thought of a longer time frame at this stage would be untenable. If it is 5 years, I have completed 1/10 of the time and I can possibly just imagine finishing it (as long as the hands don't get worse) - staying on for longer is not imaginable.
- kmakmMember@tigerbeth In Priceline in my local shops.
- Blossom1961MemberI am not sure how you ladies cope day after day with the pain. I am struggling with my foot and ankle pain but at least it always settles for the third week so I get one good week out of three.
- tigerbethMember@kmakm where do you buy them ? Online?
- FlaneuseMember@Brenda5 Day 29 off Letrozole for me today and feeling much better all over.
- Brenda5MemberShoulders and neck are good today. Ankle is much better. Even the knee isn't as bad as it was. I like this getting back to original normal feeling. :)
- Kiwi_AngelMemberI like the nutralife brand of vitamins. Are more expensive though so normally get them from chemist warehouse when they are on sale.
