After a break, Letrozole, continued...
Drug holiday over, today I started taking Letrozole again. At night this time. Don't know that it will make any difference but worth a try.
If/when (she said optimistically) the side effects return, I'll start my curcumin trial.
It's been really really good to be pain (and dandruff) free for a few weeks. I feel it's given me a boost, and more strength to continue.
If the side effects don't settle down my oncologist was quite keen to put me onto Tamoxifen. From what I've read here I'm not so sure. Better the devil you know...?

- Brenda5MemberMy foot was a bit sore yesterday, no idea why. I went for a walk and with my compression surf shoes on it eventually came reasonable to walk without limping. That night in the shower it was sore again and I showed my hubby and he said my foot was swollen. My knee does play up a bit lately too. If its going to affect my walking I might have to change off letrozole on to something else. I will give it a few more weeks as stuff comes and goes. Maybe this pain will go too.
- kmakmMember@Romla I can imagine. It's rotten. K xox
- RomlaMemberIt would be nice @kmakm am just a tiny bit tired of my health.
- kmakmMember@Romla Dr ShineyGiney diagnoses Clusterfuck Arm. I prescribe the South of France, soft cheese, Bollinger, and rest on a yacht moored in St Tropez.
- RomlaMemberJust a quick update . It is suspected because of my palm issues I might have the start of carpal tunnel .Carpal tunnel is not an unknown side effect for people taking Letrozole.
I do however have tennis elbow not mets which should take another 4 weeks minimum to fix .If it’s not markedly better by then I may have cortisone injections at our local hospital guided by ultrasound.Tennis elbow is a repetitive strain injury effecting tendons but no linkages to Letrozole it seems. - Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm - yah - glad it seems to be working and quite quickly xo
- ArtferretMemberWell it's certainly not a walk in the park all that we are going through. I just got my chronic health management plan done for the year, all osteo this time and boy do i need it. When i go to gym my left elbow is strapped and i wear padded gym gloves for the weight bearing exercises- they are god-send for my thumb joints. My right thumb has got to the point where i cannot stretch it right out and as for handwriting?! Forget it. Gritted my teeth when i had to do my signature for passport renewal - though there is a box that says cannot sign-hope it doesn't come to that in the future! My hips are not great esp when it travels right down to my feet. Off to see my osteo next week...
- FlaneuseMember@Romla @kmakm Yes, all this stuff we're BUYING! Not easy for anyone, and on the pension a real challenge. I'm thinking of getting one of those support things for my achilles tendonitis & tear (not BC-related). I've been using rock tape but I don't know that it helps and it's awkward to apply and painful to remove. I think I'll try the curcumin.
Romla, it seems you definitely need a review of your situation with your oncologist. I've had bits of what you describe too. And am concerned about the fact that I get bad pain in the middle of my right upper arm (not the mastectomy side). It's deep like bone pain. - kmakmMemberI can cautiously report that I think the curcumin is helping. The pain in my ankles and hands is less, and I am nowhere near as stiff. In the last few days I have not hobbled like an ancient crone when I've got out of bed. The weather has been warmer, so we'll see how it goes when it cools off.
Of course it would bloody be the most expensive herbal supplement that works... - RomlaMemberOops forgot I have a brace to support the tendon from the physio. And also I purchased Ice spray and Magnesium/arnica gel from the supermarket - the former gives immediate relief the latter helps but not as quickly.
