Today I chose my new hair. If I was choosing hair for a fancy dress it would have been fun. I didn't realise how confronting it would be, it becomes more real.

I've only got a few days before mine will start shedding, am planning to wear scarves. Julie thank you for the reminder, BC does not define me, I have to admit though that I am still very teary at the thought of loosing my hair. So with you Vicki, very confronting.
- Yes it is time to shave it off. Your scalp will be tender and the stubbly bits can hurt on the pillow for a bit. I wore a sleeping cap (so sexy.....not) for a while until I adjusted. I started wearing my wigs for a short time with a liner. Yes they are hot and can get a bit uncomfortable. I carried a little stretchy turban for a quick change if it got too much but unlike other brave women, the scarf, turban thing just wasn't me. I am in Oman now and it is hot. I still wear my wigs all of the time when out. I swim in my old sleeping caps! I bought a great big white sun hat from the gotcha covered site in Au. It is adjustable. I also hated the process of choosing a wig but I was pleased I bought one. I must say I hardly wore it though. Wearing a wig while you still have hair is completely different. Even with a bamboo fabric cap underneath it I could only tolerate mine for short periods once I was bald. Well done for being pro active and I'm sure you'll find your own fabulous hairless look.

I also hated the process of choosing a wig but I was pleased I bought one. I must say I hardly wore it though. Wearing a wig while you still have hair is completely different. - I know that feeling Vicki. I am shedding hair everywhere today. I feel like Gretal but instead of leaving breadcrumbs to track my wanderings I am dropping hairs. I've chopped my hair short but feel it is nearly time to shave it. I have bought a wig in preparation for the inevitable but it is still all very daunting. I love Julie's positive comment. Let us both hope that we will share her experience and grow to love our new looks. Xx
