I am 55 and just diagnosed, a couple of weeks ago, with iDC, i was really hoping it would have been insitu still, but not to be. I am booked for a mastectomy on the 20th (2 weeks eeek). The biopsy said high grade on Nottingham scale, hence the decision for a mastectomy over a lumpectomy.ok here we go. Has anyone heard of black salve???? its apparently a paste that you can apply to the cancer and it draws on the cancer cells, pulling it all out like a plug????? sounds too good to be true? has anyone done any reading on it?

I saw one lady online share about black salve and she didn't use the conventional treatment I think. But breast cancer has many types. Hers might be different from yours. And she had a hard time before she's all ok. I was so wanting to try alternative treatment but in the end I didn't have the courage and still opt for conventional treatments that doesn't make it easier of cos. Working in oncology during my nursing training and looking after women who chose herbal over no surgery still gives me horrors. I've also cared for a lady who didn't seek treatment at all. The tumor just continues to grow larger until it cannot be contained by the breast skin. I'm sorry to give you this picture but if there really was an affective alternative to surgery they would be doing it already. Kath x

Hi bewzy Black salve is an old treatment for removing thorns splinters it does work BUT not a cancer treatmentWould be great if treatment was so simpleAll the best with coordination for your surgery Of course the Dr will have to arrange to admit you prior to surgery

Oh ok, well best to wait and see what he says, but I'd say chemo as its grade 3 so must be also ER+ so thats a hormone blocker. You'll definitely have more direction after your meeting, so try not to overthink, there are so many variables, but just know you'll be ok. :) Hugs M x

I'm tipping if theyre saying youre a grade 3, that'd be chemo...radio not sure and obviously hormone medication again, depends what your diagnosis is?

all I know is that im grade 3 on Nottingham and hormone pos, which hormones I have no idea :) I dont think radio as he advised ther mastectomy because he said, given my lack of mobility, he didnt want to have to drag me up there every day for 6 weeks

My guess would be chemo and no radio. But that depends on stage and position.

Being Grade 3 particularly would generally be chemo and radiotherapy, never heard of that before. Be interesting to see your 2nd opinion. When this one said 'you must' that's because they view it as you have to hit it with everything so that means both. x

ok so I have my mastectomy next thursday, the 20th, it is grade 3 (Nottingham) but not really that big, about 22mm. If the sentinal node is clear, what would others predict ie if i have to have everything, I will have it!
