- sandramjMember@Summerhill38 thank you for your thoughts. I am touched by your response
- June1952MemberHi @sandramj
You mention being on other medications for genetic diseases. Is your BC treatment aware of all these ?
Not all medicos know the ramifications and interactions of all drugs but perhaps there is a specially trained pharmacist in your area who can help. They are trained to know all this stuff and can perhaps give you some ideas for things to discuss with your oncologist.
Write down anything you think may be ''out of the norm'' and take that with you this week. The more they know the more they can help you get around your side effects.
Good luck
Summer :-) - sandramjMember@primek. Funny you should say Efexor - I take 2 x 150mg a day for depression bi polar and whatever the psychs want to label me on any given day. That's part of the problem is Im on so many meds for genetic disease etc so its hard to mix a newbie drug with the OTHERS, but I'll cope even if I have to sit in the pool all of summer in Qld or fly to Canada and lay in the snow. lol. Thanks for your constant comments and always being so available and helpful - I really appreciate your support and love this site - its so great to share with others :in the same boat. Luckily all still afloat. :) <3
- primekMember6 weeks is early. Hopefully it will improve. If it doesn't the antidepressant efexor helps some people with side effects bonus would be the reduction of anxiety. Fingers crossed it will improve on it's own. Kath x
- sandramjMember@primek. As Im fairly NEW to here and only taking those meds for 6 weeks or so, Im still learning HEAPS - I was perspiring at 7am yesterday on stepping out of the shower and it triggers my shame issues so HATE IT. My grandkids don't want to hug or kiss me when Im sweaty so it'll be a sad summer....... And unfortunately the sweating leads to shame which leads to panic which leads to more sweating etc. Its horrible. BUT I may have to put up with it and learn ways of dealing with the issues it raises. Very anxious time - 3 days before visit to oncologist to find test results etc. I moved my appointment forward as I was not coping. The anxiety and panic was crazy and I guess people on here can get that. Its only 5 days earlier but that seemed huge last week. :).
- primekMemberFrom your post I thought you were discussing a herbal rather than an aramatose inhibitor. So it's Arianna... anastrazole. Yes makes sense now. Hopefully your body will adjust in time to the drop in estrogen. I have the odd hot flush but no worse than I was since menopause.
- sandramjMember@primek They are the tablets prescribed for me as oestrogen/progesterone "blockers" in my language. As my tumour was 100% Oestrogen & Progesterone positive these are to stop my body making oestrogen even though I had a total hysterectomy 19 years ago. But because of my other health issues and meds I find the side effect of the sweating intolerable in the Queensland heat lately. Id hate to think how bad it will be in summer. Mind you its better than the breast cancer being rampant because of the oestrogen - so have to weigh up the pros and cons of changing the meds. Its all new to me really having surgery 6 months ago today.
- brightspaceMemberHi Sandra
Thanks for posting links..as a estrogen positive met bcpatient ..fo me this is a coping mechanism.. i feel i need to read widely about new research..it gives us hope.. cheers B - June1952MemberHi @iserbrown
I agree with your comments 100%.
If one's medical team is aware of/involved in trials one would quickly be advised. Not all women are candidates for all trials and many may not pass the additional tests required to partake.
My concern is that not all tests are available in Australia and who could afford to pay for them.
Summer :-) - iserbrownMember@sandramj your intent is good but you need to be careful in that some of the information is only research in it's infancy that may not result in anything. As to trials; your Oncologist may have some on the go or may know of others. There was one I was interested in (link below) however it wasn't with my medical Oncologist and it would've meant changing specialists

Here's another link from the BCNA website

Hope that helps, take care
