NATALEE trial

New thread to discuss the NATALEE trial (double blinded study evaluating use of CDK4 inhibitor in hormone positive early BC)
Feel free to post if you are likely to enrol/have already enrolled :)

My Oncologists have said I am a good candidate and I would like to do my bit for the future treatment options, so am hopeful to get accepted. Supposedly coming to my hospital September ish. Already commenced in US.
  • Confirmed today I will be going ahead with trial unless the clinical researchers find a reason I’m not eligible, Onc doesn’t see anything impeding me. Will involve a few more frequent visits to hospital for three years then ideal but as I’ve said, it’s important for the next generation of treatment options. Have decided I will keep my port for the bloods needing to be done regularly until my veins return in my one arm avail, unless I have an issue with my port in the mean time.
Only thing bad about trial is it reduces the types of AI I can be on to Letrozole and Anastrazole only.. I suppose if I have issues with this over time I will disenrol from trial and have a try at another therapy.
  • I’m very hopeful for the next generation of BC patients, CDK4 inhibitors are already showing good results in patients with hormone positive stage 4 disease, the theory that this will prevent or delay metastasis by years and years sounds promising. I really hope it works and that in 20 years time some other 27 year old will be told, it’s okay we’ve got this drug.
  • @sister there’s a lot on line and being conducted at FMC.Here’s a bit about it .

    NATALEE with ribociclib

A study of endocrine therapy with ribociclib (CDK4/6 inhibitor) in patients with high-risk early-stage hormone receptor positive breast cancer following surgery.

    • Requirements: patients with high risk early-stage breast cancer which is hormone receptor positive, HER2 receptor negative and have undergone breast surgery, within 12 months of commencing adjuvant endocrine therapy.
  • I haven't heard anything about it but interested to hear more.
