Mastectomy with immediate Nipple Sparing reconstruction

Hi ladies, during a window of relatively clear headedness ( is that a word?) I am pondering a question. I have an appointment next week with a plastic surgeon regarding an immediate reconstruction after mastectomy when chemo is complete. I have searched a little on the forum and the bcna site beacon etc regarding this but no current 2012 info found. Just wondering if anyone can share their experience especially about mastectomy with immediate reconstruction skin and or nipple sparing. I am not sure if I am eligible yet for ths procedure but it seems to me that it may be the best chance to keep my own body as much as possible and retain some sensation. Any advice is greatly appreciated, Louie

    I'm scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy with immediate skin sparing free TRAM flaps on Sep 28. I had a lumpectomy last December and have done chemo already. Ended up not being able to do the radiotherapy for a couple of reasons and so now doing this surgery. 2 surgeons and about 10hrs in surgery and about 5-7 days in hospital is what I'm told to expect. Got the quotes for everything in the mail this week and our trip to Europe next year is definitely out of the question now, with the gap for 2 surgeons and the anaesthetist looking to be around $14,000!
