Had my Yearly Scans & MRI today - 2 years since detection ... the waiting game begins ... yet again!
Today, I had my 'yearly' mammogram, ultrasound & a new one, MRI - as I've been having numb/tingling in my left leg/foot & arm/hands - I almost thought I had 'dropsy' at one stage, as my left foot kept 'dropping' & catching the ground as I walked! grrr Fingers crossed all is good - could be compressed nerves. Maybe it is a side effect from my meds - or could be the result of an old injury raising it's ugly head after 20 years ....
My original 'lump detection' was in Nov '17 & Xmas/New Year was totally stuffed until I received my positive diagnosis on Jan 5, 2018. I had my surgery in mid Jan '18, then radiation leading up to Easter & hormone treatment ever since with 3 changes in meds. Currently on Arimidex with the least side effects, so far! Long may it last.
Late last year - I had a call back in Nov after my 'first year reviews' but I didn't actually have the biopsy til Xmas Eve due to a major stuff up by the Imaging Company! Once again, Xmas & New year was totally stuffed!! So this year, I organised my 'yearly tests' to be a month earlier - so now they can't blame the 'Xmas Rush' for any stuff ups this year! Fingers crossed I don't get another call back!
My Ultrasound specialist today (who I have total faith in!) actually confirmed that from July - Oct, the Ultrasound/Mammogram numbers are LOWER (maybe due to the cold or the rain) and then increase again from Oct-Dec, putting pressure on the services! Weird, eh?

- Woohoo!! Finally got my results today & all clear .... so hopefully a 'normal' Xmas/New Year this year!!
The MRI didn't show any cause for concern & didn't explain my numb foot & hand - other than evidence of arthritis & some minor disc damage/bulge
The Ultrasound/Mammogram noted the bits that were seen last year that resulted in the biopsy on Xmas Eve.
BUT .... (and I reckon it is a BIG 'BUT' .....) They got my surgeon's first name wrong! .... and sent it to a local specialist instead!! Talk about Total incompetence! I've just requested they be sent thru to the correct specialist! - I am STILL WAITING - tho the MRI results came thru days ago but my GP hadn't checked them yet! grrrr . So, being proactive again (like last year when I had the callback and ended up having the biopsy on Xmas Eve ....) I rang the Imaging place this arvo to ask them to check on it - and got put on hold forever!! Whilst the music was playing, I went to their Facebook Site & sent a message that I was getting quite concerned about my results as they were taking so long to come thru - and was answered almost immediately, so hung up the phone!
Yes, the reports have been completed & sent to your Rad Oncologist (as she'd done the referral) ..... I said "What about my GP, Oncologist and Surgeon as they were all to be CC'd too ..... ) SILENCE! "I will send them thru immediately!" Then got a message "DONE"! Now I have to get onto the GP's office again to get THEM to vet them first!!
WHY ME?? Am I getting paranoid now or WHAT??
So I STILL haven't received my results!! grrrrrr
And now my Rad Onc Appt has been changed to Nov 11 instead of next Monday ..... so another 2 weeks before I see her.
Lucky you, @iserbrown !! I am still hoping mine will settle - they are aching heaps, pretty well 24/7 - which is a relatively new development since starting Arimidex some months ago, on top of the numb feeling in the left foot and hand that hopefully the MRI will explain!! - Feet were an issue for me when I was on Letrozole. Now I am on Aromasin my feet are normal, touch wood!!
- @kmakm - it's just recently that my whole feet have been aching severely ... maybe this is going to be the side effect that I will have from Arimidex (now that I've been on it for some months ....) Same as Exemestane, I was relatively 'good' for about 6 months before the side effects kicked in .... Grrrr . My right shoulder is also playing up too grrr
Will mention all this to my Rad Onc when I see her later this month. - @arpie My feet ache horribly, though intermittantly, usually in the big toe joints. Plus random sharp pains that are quite severe. This has all happened this year. I'm pretty sure it's the Letrozole. Apart from plantar fasciitis I've never had trouble with my feet before. Sigh...
- I'd say the high mammograms from Oct on is related to pink October promotion. Best of luck and hoping they figure out your foot issue.
