Finding relief

So today I dumped my doctor, ashe did ot want to talk to me about my results my level of pain and accused me of having the pain and infection back again because I was not doing anything , when In fact I have been going to the Physio three times a week doing her excercises plus some and was doing so much she told me to pull back. He was so mean I started crying and he just opened his office door and walked off. So I will go to Concord Hospital tomorrow and see the staff and breast care nurse. I have been in utter agony passing at nights not sleeping and a second infection in 3 weeks . He needs a soul bi -pass. Good luck to all who are going through this treatment it is astonishingly hard and love and hugs to you all Love Peta

  • I lost my fight lately and the waiting room was full of ladies in different stages of BC, I did go into hospital and find a Breast cancer nurse after many phonecalls ,no one cared, so I go to  NEW HOSPITAL ON wEDNESDAY WITH NEW dOCOTRS. i CONTACTED THE SURGEON  that did my Hysterechtomy and in 5 minutes she had a team. She has always been the most wanderful human being. So I start a fresh Love to you all Peta

  • Oh Peta,

you are a much better woman than me! I would have let him have it with both barrels and then I would have made a complaint to the hospital. I'm not backwards in coming forwards and it has served me well throughout his process. I certainly wouldn't have put up with him walking out the door on me. I would have followed him and told him that no matter how shit his day was, it was nothing to how shit going through cancer is and if he wasn't prepared to do his job then he could refer me to someone who would! And I would have made sure that everyone on that floor heard me! Not always the best reaction but boy it would have made me feel better. I don't understand why someone would treat you like that. Go to the day onc ward and ask to speak to the person in charge. Let them know how you are feeling and could they arrange for you to see someone else. The fact is, you have a right to a second opinion and you have the right to be able to calmly discuss your treatment, your cancer, your feelings, your angst and anything else that you feel is related with your medical team. They need to be working with you not treating you like that. Take someone else with you to your appointments so if you don't feel strong enough to speak honestly and openly about things and bring these things up, the person with you can. Go in with a list of questions and keep asking them until you understand and are satisfied with the answers.

  • I never liked him from day one and it takes some cruety to walk awy from someone 4 weeks after a mastechtomy crying in you waiting room and say nothing. I would never walk away from a stranger crying , I haven't I have gone up to strangers crying in hospitals and hugged them , he was my doctor and just does not believ I am in pain. I hate him

  • I feel for you. Good you go and talk to staff at Concord. Drs have off days too...lets hope this is all it is and not just a tyrant. I hope you find a Dr you are comfortable with or can have a support person come with you to all future appointments at least.

  • Ah Peta that sucks.  I had a similar experience and as much energy as it took I made sure that it was known I actually had another referral I don't know what happened but I had one appt booked with that dr I turned up and we got on appeared after my response she had a rethink anyhow she's still my onco I guess my point is none of us need to feel intimidated by the medical profession we are going through enough and that's something they need to remember I'm a tough cookie but that experience shattered me and I wanted to be sure it was not going to happen to someone else.  Big hugs walk tall

  • Thanks Tracy I did not need being made to feel stupid and uncared for by the person I am relying on. We have all had a loss to some extent of a body part and it is hard psychologically , reassurance is so simple but hard if the Docotor does not have  SOUL  HUGS TO ALL pETA

  • Omg! That's appalling!

id be reporting to the staff and BCN definitely.... Unfortunately some Dr's just don't want to know when things go a bit off course.... I'm so sorry you have to deal with that on top of everything else!

Hooe you get the appropriate care you are entitled to and start healing soon!

    Love and light

    -Tracy
