Oh Peta,
you are a much better woman than me! I would have let him have it with both barrels and then I would have made a complaint to the hospital. I'm not backwards in coming forwards and it has served me well throughout his process. I certainly wouldn't have put up with him walking out the door on me. I would have followed him and told him that no matter how shit his day was, it was nothing to how shit going through cancer is and if he wasn't prepared to do his job then he could refer me to someone who would! And I would have made sure that everyone on that floor heard me! Not always the best reaction but boy it would have made me feel better. I don't understand why someone would treat you like that. Go to the day onc ward and ask to speak to the person in charge. Let them know how you are feeling and could they arrange for you to see someone else. The fact is, you have a right to a second opinion and you have the right to be able to calmly discuss your treatment, your cancer, your feelings, your angst and anything else that you feel is related with your medical team. They need to be working with you not treating you like that. Take someone else with you to your appointments so if you don't feel strong enough to speak honestly and openly about things and bring these things up, the person with you can. Go in with a list of questions and keep asking them until you understand and are satisfied with the answers.
