Does Anastrozole cause tinnitus?

.....WHAT'S THAT?? CAN YOU SPEAK UP?!?!

About a week ago all of a sudden I became horribly aware of having tinnitus. I have had ringing in the ears occasionally in life, as you do. Never like this though. I feel like it's now suddenly 24/7 and it is shitting me literally to tears.

Any evidence that this is a side effect of AIs or what?
I know chemo can damage hearing...but how? Is that what's happening to me?

I can't live with tinnitus. I've got too much other crap going on. UGHHHHHHH I don't see my oncologist for a couple of months, but I want to talk to her and say Hey! What is this!

  • I developed tinnitus suddenly on Tamoxifen. It never goes away. It's like having cicadas chirping day and night.
  • That's really funny, @kmakm - I wear ear plugs for exactly that reason!  The slightest noise (even Keith breathing) will keep me awake!!   And the bird's chorus starts here at about 4am too!  :(
  • Someone I know developed terrible tinnitus and was advised to sleep with his window at night. He said it worked really well. The ambient night noises lessened the drone of his ears.
  • I wish I could give you a magic cure .... but Sadly, I've had Tinnitus for decades and my AIs sure haven't got rid of it either!   :(

It always appears to be worse at night (when it is deadly quiet) .... I have a canary in each ear, singing different notes!   :(

I DO wear earplugs at night & is somehow reduces it a bit - so I get a good sleep now & then.

Back in the 80s they experimented with me, saying that my 'bite' was wrong, causing Tinnitus ... and ground down my rear molars ...... which did NOTHING to remedy the Tinnitus   :(

All the best - I will follow this thread with interest!  xx
