Anastrozole

I've just been prescribed Arimidex. I start taking it in 3 or 4 weeks when I'm over the radiation. If I don't like it I'll stop taking it. Quality of life is important to me. I'll try other things if they're available. @melclarity As far as I'm concerned chemo has fucked me forever. My nervous system is not the same. My reflexes are gone and my body feels like jelly.
My girlfriend who came to stay with me last weekend had been on Tamoxifen for 2 years and said her only side effect was some weight gain. I'm only 41 kilos atm so I'm hoping the Arimidex will puff me up.
@Annski What a great answer. I would like to say that you took the words right out of my mouth, so much sense did you make. Many of my friends have stopped the hormone treatment. Many have lung cancer and my best friend had a brain aneurysm 4 weeks ago. A dear friend died of esophageal cancer during treatment 3 weeks ago from a stroke.
I might get run over by a car after 5 years of aging on Arimidex with an atrophied vagina and wonder was it all worth it?

Wow!! I'm so overwhelmed with the responses to my original questions around Anastrozole!! I had a great chat with my oncologist and decided to have a trial period off Anastrozole. I have been off it for 8 weeks now and I'm feeling so much better, I'd almost say I'm back to my old self. Still have a few aches and pains but in general nothing compared to how I was feeling. I have picked up my script for Tamoxifen but haven't started taking it yet..... a couple more days. I'm well aware Tamoxifen comes with its own side effects but hoping I won't be effected the way I was on Anastrozole. Thank you to everyone that took the time to post opinions and experiences, I'm truly grateful.

Please don’t  go @melclarity you have helped so many people including me. The written word is powerful but lacks the nuances of speech so things can be misconstrued especially if we don’t know a person well. Let’s all just move on.

Oh dear, our family migrated to Australia in 1996. None of us has ever had any gold plated freebies or preferential treatment. Last year my husband and I met the threshhold of PBS expenses of around $1700.00 after paying the full amount for prescription medicines in August. Thereafter, we paid $5.60 per script, not nothing, as opposed to up to $38.00 and some odd cents.

I share  the financial pressure many on this blog are experiencing and the worries we all have about our futures and even present. However ,I think we need to remember this is a blog for people who have / had breast cancer  and to focus  on why we are here - to guide and support each other through diagnosis , treatment and life after both. 

I appreciate that the systems are often contradictory and frustrating but I can't see how anyone who doesn't live here ( ie a non resident) does better. Or do you mean migrants or refugees?
