awake at 4:45 this morning. God if only I could do this when I have to work! Was discussing wigs with my friends yesterday and I think we'll go for a variety of different styles so I can mix and match. Including: Pink Mohawk, blonde afro (ive always wanted a blonde afro) long blonde curly aka mermaid style, cleopatra style, long black with hello kitty clips and uma thurman from pulp fiction style. Any further suggestions greatly apreciated!

I also have had the same conversation with friends and partner :) As soon as we found out that I had to embark on the dreaded chemo journey my partner said "dont worry honey im going to buy every sexy Katie Perry wig for you and you can enjoy a new look every day !" God knows that we have to try and make this as humourous as we can, so Im with you bring on all kinds of looks. katexx

Hey girls Depending on the weather where you live, I would just go for a material cap. That is what I did....way too hot for wigs...and when going through chemo...the hot flushes...!!!!! The money wigs cost is crazy and you only really need them for a few months I did have a wig loaned to me but didnt end up using it. x

If you did want a wig, the Cancer council subsidises them and you can get new synthetic wigs for about $60 and pre loved ones for $40. I find cotton caps best for the hot flushes (aren't they fun - Tania ?, thank goodness I don't mind being bald in public, becasue sometimes there is no option but to pull your hat off to cool down, & thank goodness for fams, electic or hand (I carry a hand fan with me EVERYWHERE)).

Where do you live Tania? How did you cope/ feel about being bald in public? I have no issues with it, and believe that if people did happen to stare at me,THEY have the problem, NOT me. And as to kids asking me or there parents why I am bald, what a great opportunity for me or there parents to explain to kids about cancer, or treatment, or that some people are different. I would be STUFFED without my fans (i have one next to my bed - Iget more hot flushes at night - when in beed or early morning etc - I often whip my sleep cap off in the early morning, as my head goes thermonuclear ? Get yourself a fan (I have a couple of little bamboo lacy ones, they are Great and I got mine free from our local headwear shop (Heads up @ Calvary), buy you can get different kinds including little battery operated kinds with like a propellor on the front).

It is liberating.

I've been to Adelaide a number of times, I was born and raised in Warrnambool, and we used to cross the border to Mt. Gambier often and on numerous occasions continued to Adelaide for a weekend or longer.

A few alcoholic beverages, can give you amazing courage I am told (I don't drink myself - never have (not for any particular reason, I just don't like it and the meds I have been taking for the last 16 year DO NOT mix with alcohol either) ?

Oh Dan, you're a clown!!...definately whip outside...it does help!!! I just wouldnt spend money on a wig...its a bit like pregnancy...so much money for such a little amount of time!!

At this stage (with hair) I have no problems nuding up! That may change however once I see my nut sans hair! I plan to have a few choices from beanies to the cotton skull caps and a couple of crazy wigs just to liven things up. I'm dying to go see my oncologist in a mr T wig with black sideburns! Baha! It gets pretty chilly in winter here in Sydney so that may be good for hot flushes, I'll just nip outside!
