If you did want a wig, the Cancer council subsidises them and you can get new synthetic wigs for about $60 and pre loved ones for $40.
I find cotton caps best for the hot flushes (aren't they fun - Tania ?, thank goodness I don't mind being bald in public, becasue sometimes there is no option but to pull your hat off to cool down, & thank goodness for fams, electic or hand (I carry a hand fan with me EVERYWHERE)).
