Hi @KezzaG
I have ILC as well. I felt a lump in January this year and had confirmation in March, followed by a lumpectomy a week later. The pathology showed no clear margins (18 tumors found in the margin!), and three out of three lymph nodes involved. My mammogram 18 months earlier was clear however the surgeon said that I would have had the tumor then...just a tricky one to detect.
I started AC-T chemo in April, had almost no side effects other than the hair loss (awful!) and a bit of tiredness. My suggestion would be to investigate a port, I had one put in before chemo and it was the best thing, others at chemo had issues with veins etc but my port worked a treat each time. Plus I put an Emla patch on one hour before they accessed it and had zero pain.
My chemo finished on the 25th September, I now have a little bit of numbness in four fingers and two toes, plus occasional pins and needles in my feet, hope this goes away soon. Plus I still have no hair.
Mastectomy on Wednesday...far out I am not happy about losing my breast. I think the only reason I am actually doing it is because my partner wants me to survive this and says it doesn't matter to him that I will have a scar. I will have reconstruction in 12 months time. If you need a prosthetic you may be able to get $400 from Medicare toward the cost of it.
Radiation and hormone blockers start for me in about December.
You will get the best support and advice from everyone on this forum. It is so good to be able to talk to people who have been through it.
Wishing you all the best xxx.
