New and so confused
I am Grade 2, sentinel lymph node free, deciding if the 4 or 5% difference of having Chemo or going straight into radiation and onto tablets and with the added severe family history of kidney and heart disease. So confused ‘do I do Chemo or not’ I know it’s my decision but would like to know if other women have same or similar diagnosis. The oncologist said last week you have 6% extra chance of survival and then today said 4 or 5%.

- SisterMemberNot sure @newby24 because that wasn't a side effect that I got. If they are dry, then try Moo Goo Udder Cream (good to have if you're going for rads). If it's that the skin is painful but not dry, maybe one of those over-the-counter antiseptic, anti-stinging burn creams. I don't know any brand names and I don't know active ingredients so you may have to check that it is okay to use.
- Newby24MemberHey Ladies I have finished my 3/4 chemo and the backs of my hands are killing me, been to doctors, oncologist and they said they are not sure and gave me a creme hydroxyl but it’s not working. Sorbolene is soothing a tiny little bit but anyone have any suggestions please? It’s very red and feels like burning??
- kmakmMember@Newby24 Beautiful! <3
- Newby24MemberWell day 8 after chemo 3/4 and I am just feeling a little better. Cramps are seriously crazy. Gastric from the antibiotics I assume is reeking havoc on my body and the chaffing is horrible. But wait my 10 year old grandson says nan lets play a game and he lights up my life. My 15 year old granddaughter needs credit for her phone and my 16 year old need $ for registration for all sports and then my 13 year old grandson just quietly says I love you nan. The pain comes and goes but the love we all share is always. Have a happy day 😀
- FlaneuseMember@Newby24 Radiation is very tiring, because you have to go every day; but if you look after your skin it should be straight-forward. There's no pain involved. If you keyword-search "radiation" you'll find threads with discussions about creams and other tips during radiation.
What the other girls have said about fear of recurrence. The fear comes and goes in waves, and we get pretty used to dealing with waves.
All the best. - SoldierCrabMemberAh @Newby24
So you are realising what this forum is about ..... by writing (venting here) in a safe place you then get the thoughts out of your head.
I kept repeating in my head "take that you Bitch Cancer, another dose of medicine for you to be wiped out " it helped me deal with the fear at about the stage you are up to ....
Newby24 sometimes the best thing we can do is have a good cry or vent .... I would often come on here while going through treatment while others were sleeping read cry and sometimes have a little vent it is therapeutic for us to do that ....
I am now nearly 7 years since diagnosis with No Evidence of Disease... (NED) yes I have side effects but I am alive and with my kids longer than I thought I would be....
Hugs and energy to get through each treatment ....
Soldiercrab - kmakmMember@Newby24 As is often the way, the anticipation is mostly worse than the reality. Try to stay in the moment. My psychologist advises not to waste time on predictive grief! In other words, try not to cross bridges until you come to them.
Many have no trouble with AIs. It might seem like everyone does, but when you have a problem you're more likely to end up looking for answers in a place like this.
Take it easy on yourself this weekend. Big hug, K xox - Newby24Member@SoldierCrab it has healed very well and I can’t even feel it now but continuing with the antibiotics. Day 3 and starting to go down hill. I have been having silly thoughts in the last couple of days of reoccurrence and really don’t know how to get rid of them. I do have a loving family who are here for me and I really haven’t had a breakdown as yet but I’m just hating these feelings and I don’t want to give up. I’m also a little frightened because I have my dates for radiation and not looking forward to that and then the ten year tablets that I hear cause more side effects then chemo. Actually writing this down is helping me feel a little better. Thank you again everyone for your support always.
- SoldierCrabMemberNewby is it nice to see you are feeling so supportive as you are having some hiccups at this stage....
my specialist tried to heal this area on my chest wall for like 6 + months only to realise that is was actually a vein sitting on the surface.... - Newby24MemberThanks @Sister yes it did help me sleep better last night. I am feeling okay just a little cranky tonight for no particular reason, I’m sure why lol
